During the course of playing Bot Slayer, you’ll hear things like “sniper inbound” when the weapon is almost ready.
I’m sorry but saying anything + “inbound” sounds exactly like a line out of call of duty, ESPECIALLY with this guy’s aussie-type accent (not sure exactly what the accent is). I can’t NOT think of call of duty when I hear these lines and that is one game series that I honestly have not played much over the years. It really takes away from an otherwise excellent halo-like feel of the game.
No offense to the voice actor, not his fault. Just something that made me immediately think call of duty. I’m honestly curious if he was a voice actor in call of duty. If it were my decision, I would absolutely remove those lines from the game. Its so COD-like, I’m bracing myself to hear the BBBRRRRRRR from an airstrike lol.
Again, just my opinion. The team at 343 wants feedback and that is mine, as dumb as it may seem to some people.

No problem with giving feedback! You just have to realize that the word “inbound” is a commonly used military term, so it isn’t weird that the UNSC uses the term. I think it was likely a coincidence.
Can you disable both the spartan chatter and the personal ai?
I just hope we will get some fun voices like the ones from Titanfall. Loved in TF the one with the British Butler accent and the possibility to also to switch languages just for IA for some Waifu Potential.
I swear Halo players will complain about anything at this point

There’s a setting to turn off chatter so yeah you can turn them off

Chatter yes, but what about turning off the personal ai?
I do like the AI customization, but would prefer some personality to mine then generic multiplayer call outs.

One of the AI’s doesn’t talk I think
man im sorry if you think the word “inbound” is solely a call of duty term that is only ever used in call of duty and nothing else. but its not.

That’s what I’m trying to figure out as well. I am not digging this whole personal AI thing at all. Seems really useless and childish to me.
As long as they have two options, I’m okay with it:
A. the ability to SHUT IT OFF.
B. an incredibly utilitarian AI that doesn’t sound like a character but just reads out the info.

agree 100%

There’s an option to turn of chatter but it doesn’t seem to be working for me.
Maybe “Sniper Rifle spawning in: 15 seconds.” Or “The Sniper Rifle will spawn in 15 seconds.”
Does anyone know if the option to turn off the chatter also turn off the “Oofff”, “Aahhggh”, sounds when spartans take damage or die? I don’t have much of a problem with call outs but those pain sounds are incredibly annoying and goofy. I would like to turn them off too.

Sort of off topic but is this dude the same voice as destiny’s commentator? What is it that we’re hearing, is it our AI?
I’m more or less indifferent about the personal AI thing, though I wouldn’t complain if we got a Chris Puckett AI.

I agree with this. I think these sounds occur a bit too much currently.

Agreed. I am a spartan I do not need the other spartans or the AI in my head to remind me when the Skewer spawns because honestly I don’t need it. I don’t need warnings, I don’t need reminders, I barely need a weapon at all, and I definitely don’t need anyone to tell me what I just did.
Yea, I picked up the needler. You don’t need to tell me “Needler acquired.” I pressed the button to pick it up on purpose. I KNOW WHAT I DID. Just show it in my weapon list, don’t use distracting voice lines. I’m supposed to be among the most competent fighters mankind has to offer, not some rookie who doesn’t know his -Yoink- from a plasma pistol and needs a little companion AI to help me change my diapers.
On that note, I’m probably not going to wince and “Ooff” every time I get hit by something. Maybe consider using a per-hit damage threshold to decide whether or not my character gives audio feedback.
Not a great first impression, which is a shame because the actual gameplay mechanics are solid and feel right at home.
Honestly just cut out like 75% of those voice lines. Leave in the entertaining ones, everything else is just an annoyance to us.
