Spartan 4s or marines in Gypsy company?

So when I played the campaign mission with the giant elephant and gypsy company, there were a few guys that helped the master chief out in the black and orange recruit armor. I thought they were spartan 4’s, seeing as how they had spartan armor… But then this week there was a spartan ops mission with them in it. They called them marines in the description and in the little into, and I noticed they seemed shorter than I did as a spartan 4. So do marines have spartan armor now? I sure hope not, otherwise spartans are a lot less special now.

Note Please no -Yoinking!- about how ‘343i ruined halo 4’. Take that crap to your whiny little posts nobody reads. If you want the same halo as halo 3, go play halo 3 ffs. I’ll enjoy this refreshing game that doesn’t feel like I’ve already played it for ten years. Take your QQ elsewhere.

Anybody know???

I think the description may have just been wrong. Either way, the main Spartan IVs we see in the cutscenes, I don’t think of them as Spartans. They’re just marines in new armor (the Black and Orange ones in game are better). Spartans aren’t just the armor, they’re also a mind set and a modus operandi. The Spartan IVs we’ve seen in cutscenes don’t have the mind set or MO; they’re cocky, arrogant, and boastful. Spartans are supposed to be the very best, and not be arrogant or boastful about it.

to clear this up in the story if you see any human A.I. with black and Orange they have shield so they are Spartans IV

Also the different between them and the Spartans II is that they were all members of the UNSC not kidnapped like the Spartans II… that why they are more gun-ho and why they are shorter then Spartans II because they were all adults when they were augmented for the Spartans being kids were augmented younger so its to be expected they are a bit shorter (also on a side note the Spartans IV replaced ODST units that why no ODST units… this is jsut my thoughts why there no ODST armor in the armory

Thats because Spartan IV’s are volunteers. They were the best of their specific branch, be it Marines or ODST’s. Spartan II’s and III’s were trained from the age of six to be the best soldiers they can be, thats why they aren’t as talkative or arrogant.

I know why they behave like that, I’m just saying it’s not fitting for the Spartans. They’re supposed to be amazingly badass - and everyone is supposed to know that - but they aren’t supposed to be cocky and arrogant about it.

S-II’s were augmented and trained since childhood.

S-IV’s have been volunteers into the new S-IV Program.

Edit* Even as Halsey stated, she trained them (S-II’s) to be silent and to be a SPARTAN.

The SPARTAN-III’s and IV’s are arrogant and not “real” SPARTANs. Not to me at least.

If they have shields then they’re spartan IVs, if not, then they’re marines.

That’s exactly how I feel. It’s similar to how many top Operators around the world (Special Forces members) aren’t arrogant or boastful, and how you hear many will be disappointed when one goes public about it.
