Random though but when becoming a spartan 4 what qualifications do u have to meet to become a spartan 4
From Halopedia:
> The SPARTAN-IV program is the fourth iteration of the SPARTAN supersoldier projects. Like the original ORION Project, the SPARTAN-IV program utilizes consenting adult volunteers selected from the other branches of the United Nations Space Command, in contrast to the previous two programs which used children as candidates. Recruits are drawn from both career military veterans and young soldiers who show considerable promise.

Typically recruiters like Jun-A266 review CVs of various special operations soldiers like ODSTs and interview the ones that are deemed capable of being utilized by the Spartan-IV program. In Initiation, he recruits Palmer after her harrowing rescue of Admiral Kovalic.
In Bad Blood, Jun recruits Buck (after several attempts) based on his successful career as an ODST.

I wonder if you could be an amazing athlete and have tremendous physical abilities and be deemed worthy to make it into the program. Sure they won’t have military experience but the athleticism is a good determining factor

That’s how Olympia Vale officially became inducted into the S-IV program. She kicked a bunch of people’s butts during a martial arts tournament.

I did not know that. Must have missed it. That said, I think that would be an exception. Military indoctrination would be a necessary pre-req to most recruiters for a select branch of the military. Or at least comparable combat experience? Either way, that’s a cool bit of backstory.

I believe it was her role in Operation: FAR STORM and high placement during inter-service War Games demonstration that clinched her nomination. She did have to learn martial arts to serve her role as a Sangheili diplomat, however.

I think she would have done so anyway, considering her interest in their culture. Martial skill is well respected, and I can see her earning trust from some Sangheili by kicking their butts in a sparring ring.
Well I would assume there is multiple factors that are sought after by the recruiters. Some of these may include, but are not required to join are, genes (like those that Halsey wanted for the IIs) as people who have these genes may be approached and given a position, those who have an exceptional combat record, those who have a particular expertise in a specialisation in the Army such as engineers, those who show promising careers from their early days. Those are only a few and I’m sure there are more.
To add to the above most ODSTs who survived the war and were in service for some time were offered a position, hence why there is not as many ODSTs post war, but regular Marines who had fought valiantly during the war got positions too. A reason not as many Marines got positions as ODSTs is because there job is not as high risk as ODSTs. Also #MakeChipsDubboASpartan
Just like in today’s Special Operations training, anyone can join, and go through each branches respective selection process. Obviously we know there to be Spartan Program recruiters to cherry pick individuals they see would be successful Spartans, but just need to motivation to join.
Take BUD/s for example. Before you even get into BUD/s you have an 8 week prep school. Then BUD/s is 24 weeks of the most intense selection program there is, with only 1 in 4 making it, at best. After that, even though you are technically qualified, you still have not earned your Trident until you complete the 3 week course on jump school, and then the 6 and a half month SQT. Only after SQT does a SEAL earn their trident, get put in one of the Teams, and continue training as a SEAL which is about another year and a half until they are deployed on their first mission: 3 phases, 6 month blocks each. SO you are looking at a little over two and a half years from when you sign your contract, and get deployed(from what I read).
I would imagine ODST’s did something similar. Spartans would be no different, but may take a bit longer because they have to essentially re-learn everything once they get issued MJOLNIR.
