I went back to some recorded footage from H5 (I’m using H5, because personally I felt that had the best balanced pistol this game has ever seen) for medium to medium-long range engagements. Somethings I noticed that is making me understand why this pistol is so spammy and has zero reward and makes playing on PC boring as hell.
After overlaying screenshots of the reticule, I noticed they’re both the same outer cone of fire size. H5’s position of reticule on screen is actually more up and to the left ever so slightly. The “first shot accuracy” / “accuracy” inner circle of Infinite’s pistol is about half the size of H5’s which means as long as you let the bloom reset your shots are going to be much more accurate then H5 even at longer ranges which is what everyone did on H5 because tempo’d shots were easier due to capped rate of fire and being a controller based game. Here’s where issues come into play. H5’s bloom reset of the inner circle resets much faster. In Infinite I’ve tested it in a couple of games to time my shots perfect to let the bloom reset before each shot to gain better accuracy. But you get out spammed every time. So even with a wider initial first shot accuracy, H5’s pistol was much more “forgiving” to players because the reset was quick so you could stop for literally a split second if you start firing too quick and get back into the correct tempo of shots to be accurate all the time. Since the outer bloom is the same on both pistols this is making people not even attempt to let bloom reset and have tempo’d shots, because no matter what you’re going to get out spammed or out sprayed by the AR and because console’s aim assist is so little right now (yes I am a PC player, but originally since HCE I was console, plugged in my controller to get a feel for it and there is definitely very little AA for controller) which makes spamming and tracking with controller extremely difficult.
They either need to reduce rate of fire so the pistol is by default “more accurate” or reduce the blooms reset on it so good players will go back to being tempo shooters like they were in H5 while maintaining the ability to spam for casuals and controller players (currently until AA is fixed).

Close range the H5 pistol was inaccurate and garbage… I agree with your last paragraph heavily

eh, yeah I probably agree it wasn’t the BEST short range. I used it mostly for medium to medium-long before swapping over to a BR.

Which then they did the weapons tuning update and the BR Which then they did the weapons tuning update and the bar became absolutely useless and ruin the game for me became absolutely useless and ruin the game for me
I don’t think it’s that bad, it definitely plays different than other pistols though. I’m only on M&KB now, and I really only find spamming to be effective at pretty close range, and I’ll do my best to tempo even if I’m only slightly outside of that range. You’re right about it being harder to time the bloom but that’s fine, just another thing to learn. Just because the pistol is a little harder to use doesn’t mean it needs a change, and I actually like having a reason to pull out the AR every once and a while.
