Hey will there be actual space combat MP in this one???
I always hated how much opportunities Bungie missed in Reach. Space MP for one.
And even a SW Battlefront-type mode where you could be battling in Space with Spaceships one time and then fly down to the planet for normal ground combat. Sad that something like that’s not in Halo 4

Hope so. Sorry I don’t have an answer, but yeah I’m hoping for it.

That would be great for Spartan Ops.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Bungie actually had plans for space battles in Reach MP but it didn’t work as intended so they cut it during development.

Well it’s supposed to be normal death match but in two different places. SW Battlefront 2 did it awesomely.
One day my friend we’ll get to play in games like this. Youtube Infinity demo This is basically a edited version of the original demo but the guy flew through asteroids to to reach the planet. It’s called Infinity and I so wish Spore had been like this.
The tag line was that every star and planet you saw in the demo you could fly to seamlessly right down to the grass filled fields. Amazing. Maybe on the next gen hardware for us Halo guys.
If Halo 4 allowed more than 16 people on a map then a battle between a CCS and a Marathon cruiser would be amazing.
But a Frigate versus a Corvette works too.
I always thought Microsoft could compete with CCP’s EVE-online with the Halo universe. Throw in the ability to forge our own UNSC ships and place them in a setting like the Infinity demo I posted above, only with current graphics and tech, it would be a strong title out in the market.
If anything Chrome Hounds in Space wouldn’t be to bad either.
i feel they’d need to increase the player limit just a tad to make a game type like that as epic as it needs to be.
I would love to have giant battles with space AND ground battles. I am actually dying to have this, but i dont see xbox being powerful enough to handle it. The next xbox should be a 100% guarantee if they are clever.

Well SW Battlefront 2 did it with it with loading screens between space and ground. And that was just on Normal XBOX.
I think the XBOX 360 can handle it.
Only if there’s no damn auto-leveling on ships.
It’s SPACE for crying out loud.

Agreed.
I’m all for space combat if there’s giant robots involved too.
“343 announces new playlist: Team Gundam Wing!”
Did you not learn anything from the failure that came out of the low gravity areas in Anchor 9 & Zealot? “Space battles” just don’t function in the Halo environment.

Have thought of this many times before. It makes no sense that Starwars BF2 could do it on the xbox but its not possible on the 360? WTF?
Good news is that 2 Lead Desginers at 343i are former pandemic employees, the same company that made SWBF1 and 2
The need for more than 16 players would not be necessary with a good AI bot fighter system and a good hangar/ interior flagship design thats not overly ambitious. It could actually work out quite well if 343 put there mind to it. Its actually much cheaper for a game engine to run a space map that it is a terrian map as there is much less physical geometry the game has to render. SO all that processing power can be spent on the ships and there guts rather than non playable physical terrain backgrounds.

HAHA you fail. Two tiny low grav areas on a normal map are far from a space battle. Quit being so ignorant

Exactly.

Ignorant? I think you don’t know the meaning of that word.
Seriously though, if you want a full argument against, let’s think about this.
Halo 4 is obviously a First Person Shooter, no debating that. Space, by nature, is zero gravity and again, that’s not debatable. Here’s the kicker, the concept of Spartans flailing around in zero g trying to fight each other in an environment without air would mean that movement would be painful and slow and there would be no sound, at all, coming from anyone shooting at you. This is the definition of gimmick, as that would hold little to no replay value.
If you’re expecting Starfox-esque space battles in ships, ask for a spin-off title as the development of such a thing would cause 343 to take a great deal of resources away from making a proper game.
If you want a map that’s entirely low gravity, movement will again be extremely slow, much like what we’ve already experienced on Anchor 9 and Zealot. In all the games I played, nobody willingly went into those areas for anything other than camp or move between areas that would otherwise have been a much farther, more dangerous route.
TL;DR: Space battles in a FPS Halo are idiotic at best. Thinking otherwise makes you come across as “ignorant.”
