How would you feel about a few space combat missions being included in Halo: Infinite’s campaign?
I found Halo Reach/4’s foray into space combat entertaining and if re-visted again in Infinite on a larger scale + with a wide variety of vehicles, it would be a feature that would drive the game’s success.
I’d love to see a return to space in the Halo series. Reach’s Long Night of Solace level was really fun in that regard. Halo 4’s Midnight level less so, because it felt more “on rails” and even when it opened up, it didn’t have that 360-degree feel.
I’d love to see some truly 360-degree space combat in Infinite. Something along the lines of classic Battlefront 2, with ship-to-ship combat that combined space combat with on-foot shooting. Perhaps a mission where you launch in a fighter from a UNSC ship, fight your way through enemy fighters, and then land on and board a Guardian in an effort to shut it down. Just spit-balling.

A space combat multiplayer mode is something that I’d be very interested in, especially if it’s similar to the old Battlefonts and EA’s Starfighter Assault mode.
I’m surprised that Destiny doesn’t already have it.
None of the Space battles in the Halo Franchise have been enjoyable imo. I could put up with Long Night or Solace but even then. Was easily my least favorite mission on Reach

I think Halo Reach did it best out of the two, IMO. Halo 4’s missions had too much of a linear Death Star trench run feel to it.

The lack of diversity. Although this has nothing to do with the topic particularly this is why Star Wars does space battles so much better imo. There’s so much diversity in the Star Wars space battles (specifically the older versions, I have not played any of the newer versions). You are in a ship. Your only option of a ship. And you’re shooting 3 different types of ships. 1 of them being dangerous. The other two are just meh

> If they actually made a good Halo space battle then yes. With things heating up between the UNSC and the Created maybe we’ll see something crazy.
A 3-way battle space battle between the UNSC, Covenant and Created would be awesome to behold!
Yes. If we got more than one space battle, I wouldn’t mind a mix of one being like Reach and the other like H4’s mission except make them on a bigger scale.
Yes. Space is kind of a big part of Halo for obvious reasons, but space combat is rarely utilized outside of cut scenes. How crazy would it have been, in Halo 2’s “Cairo Station”, to be able to hop in a broadsword and deliver the bomb yourself instead of watching it happen in a cut scene?
Here’s how I’d like H6 to start, the bold part below being the space combat portion:
UNSC Infinity makes it to Zeta Halo, only for Created forces to begin boarding actions - Chief has to help repel boarders, until Lasky informs him that attack craft have taken out the perimeter defense guns around the engines - Then Chief hops in an attack craft and conducts defensive operations around the engines - Eventually the Chief is overwhelmed and the Infinity engines are destroyed, causing it to go careening toward the surface of Zeta Halo - Chief’s fighter is taken out and he falls from orbit to the surface of Zeta HaloThis might be too much of a re-hash of the first level of CE, but there’s potential for space combat, and Chief gets to have yet another iconic fall from space. Plus, as has been pointed out by many people on here and Youtube, the Infinity is kinda overpowered. Humanity losing this key piece of hardware could really show just how “on the back foot” humanity really is.

I’m hoping that 343 can use the power of the X and the new game engine to raise the scale of battles across the board.

Well, remember that the Xbox One X is just a suped-up Xbox One. Anything that runs on the X must also run on the S and original One. I don’t think they’ll be designing the game in a way that only the X could handle; that would just screw over everyone who didn’t have the X.
