Space Combat in Halo 5?

I always have an image in my mind when I think about halo if they added space combat into actual multiplayer. We got a little taste of space combat in the campaign of Halo Reach, and Halo 4 but it was a little dull. I think it would be a superb idea if they added space combat into Halo 5’s multiplayer because it would be a very nice change of pace and work well into the halo universe since most of the battles fought by humanity in the Human-Covenant War were in space. People crave the idea of piloting the Longsword into battle against seraphs or space banshees. People also crave the idea on taking a pelican and boarding a covenant ship and taking it out on the inside. If Star Wars Battlefront 2 can do it on the original xbox than I think Halo 5 certainly has the ability to do so plus many, many more. I would love to hear the communities thoughts on this topic.

Why do so many people insist on stuffing everything into a single title? Halo is a franchise, things like this are what spin-offs are made for.

I find the idea of piloting Longswords and Seraphs really cool as well, but I would not want it in the core Halo titles simply because it will be an inherently limited experience. Why settle for sliver of content when so much more can be done with the concept? I enjoy flying the Jets in Battlefield, but if I want a truly great Air combat experience I will play things like Ace Combat or perhaps Rogue Squadron.

Its hard enough to create a great game with only one focus, throwing multiple genres and entirely separate gameplay suites will only lead to mediocrity and disappointment.

It’d be DLC.

I think the flying sequences should stay as supplements to campaign missions. A whole space multiplayer thing seems like it would take to much time and effort to create, plus, Halo is first and foremost a FPS, adding in a space combat mode to multiplayer would stoke the hate flames slowly cooking 343 to a nice even heat further searing their meats. Mmmm, roasted Beamish. I would not mind if a space combat sequence found its way into Halo 5’s campaign, but I highly doubt anything of that nature would make it into multiplayer.

Plus with custom games you could make a dogfight map where everyone spawns next to a banshee/UNSC aircraft. I hope they bring back a UNSC equivalent to the banshee.

Personally I would like to see space combat added to a Halo Wars sequel. I think this would be the perfect addition to a Halo RTS. Who wouldn’t want to watch covenant carriers duke it out with UNSC dreadnoughts?

So itchy tasty.

Halos strength is not space combat by any means. If anything, I would want to be a spartan standing on the outside of a ship killing covies trying to board a UNSC vessel. The sections with space combat in vehicles felt clunky, even more so after 343 took over. That was an area Bungie was much better at IMO.
