Wouldn’t it be cool if a Halo game had a mode focused on aerial combat and capital ship combat? Like imagine if there was a space battle mode similar to star fighter assault in Star Wars Battlefront? I personally loved the space battles in the battle front games, and I think that Halo could totally have a similar game mode with epic space battles and beautiful maps.
Do you think this would be a good idea or would this distract and divide the player base?
I thought I saw this conversation already, maybe on Twitter. Would be cool though since especially all of the games have a big sky box. Reach having Sabers in space, Halo 4 having a large sky box on the forge map and Halo 2: Anniversary also sharing similar large sky box over the ring.
I would love this to happen. Being able to fly Sabres, Seraphs, Banshees, and Longswords. We should also be able to fly Pelicans, Phantoms, Spirits, and Albatrosses. (Fitted with weapons.) But what would be the cherry on top would be Frigates, Covenant Cruisers, Carriers, the Pillar of Autumn, Spirit of Fire, Destroyers, and also Forerunner Dreadnoughts.

Yeah I definitely agree r.e. being able to pilot the large capital ships. Although I think if players are controlling the capital ships at that point it might be more suitable for an RTS game (low key praying for halo wars 3 to do this space battle thing).

Yeah you are right.
I like from a pacing and variety standpoint when they have levels that mix this into the campaign, I guess having a mp option for this game mode would be cool, but I’ve played some of Star Wars squadrons and it’s fun with other people, but it doesn’t hold my attention. That’s not to say there aren’t people who love these flight battle sims, so it could do well.
I think it will be great to see a Halo video game where UNSC pilots are the main characters especially if it’s going in a style of Top Gun and Independence Day.

This topic (boarding action i.e. OG Battlefront) has floated around a bit on the edges of the Waypoint forums. I love it personally. Honestly all it requires is a modified version of Invasion.
Actual space combat was introduced from the fighter pilots perspective in Halo: Reach so there is absolutely precedent to include more of it (hopefully with first person cockpit fully built out similar to something like Rogue Squadron [VR anybody?] - Although the Reach piloting reminded me a lot more of something like Crimson Skies).
As for like a World of Warships Halo port that would be pretty cool. Personally if we were really to go into Halo space batlles outside of fighters, I’d rather see it in an RTS format (cough Halo Wars 3), maybe even a bit more tactical like Sins of a Solar Empire.

I posted a similar thread about this last week. It would work so well for halo I think. One team Covenant and the other Unsc. Also with a huge player count too it would just be so epic.

I think Halo Wars 3 could not release without adding an RTS Space element like Sins of the Prophets Halo mod. It would be absolute blasphemy.

No pun intended
Uh no, what? Did you even play LNoS?

Are you saying long night of solace in reach should be the most space combat we see in halo? Not really sure what you’re getting at.
It would be great to pilot a spaceship in Halo, special in space, a great addition to the saga

I’m saying that the space section in LNoS is completely atrocious. It’s so astonishingly boring and stupidly difficult on legendary. I’d rather fight the Warden on solo legendary shiver than play that level.

I haven’t tried LNoS on legendary but I’ve heard its rough. But just because that mission is hard/bad doesn’t mean we should forget space combat in Halo

That’s a fair point I suppose, but I don’t think that 343i should make a space combat game then slap “Halo” on the cover

I totally agree with you that any new halo game shouldn’t just be about space combat with Halo models and assets. If they did make a halo game just about space combat, it should probably be a halo RTS game, not an FPS game
