Sources of Item Exclusivity

I keep seeing threads and comments about exclusive items being given to everyone unjustly.

I’d like some one to show me some sources stating from 343i, or any other major retailer, that your armour/skins/content is actually exclusive. I feel that you will have access to the only version of the release that will come with these contents, shipped, on day 1. I have never seen anything stating pure exclusivity for any version, other than the LE Console armour.

I know it’s nice to feel special. I know it’s nice to have something not many others have. But I’m still yet to see any lies come from 343, and the fact is, they did NOT have to give ANYONE ANYTHING at all. There are enough customization options in this game including armours, emblems, skins, and service tags for everyone to be different and orginal.

Argue if you want, you’re entitled to your thoughts and opinions though I don’t actually care about them. I would just like to see if it’s greediness, false entitlement, or if there actually are some broken promises stated in a civilized manner.

I had figured nobody would be able to find any…

I have seen NOTHING about a FuD DVD. Considering it’s advertised everywhere as a DIGITAL SERIES. Key word here is digital.

I have seen everything about skins, in which I never find anything about “exclusivity”.

You get 9 maps free. 3 map packs = 800 msp each = $30. plus $60 = $90. Steel case, exclusive emblem, and many other small things make it a great buy.

This is what BS posted on the bulletin of LE.

[• Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE

The Limited Edition includes the following bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE: unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set](http://blogs.halowaypoint.com/Headlines/post/2012/05/16/The-Halo-Bulletin-51612.aspx)

Helmets of WDLC

Specializations

EDIT: The skins of each retailer, if you pre-order, are available in the game, but you will have to unlock them in the future. So not exclusive.

And they sell FUD separetely on DVD, if you want it, or Blu-Ray

This thread is one of the main reasons that 343i/MS will do this again with Halo 5…

…because its working.

Use Google next time.

Went into this page. Hit ctrl+f to search text. Searched for “exclusive”

The ONLY thing that came up, was the in game emblem…

Ok? I fail to see where this states it comes in the LE of the game?

It doesn’t, it’s digital for the ones who buy LE. That product it’s something apart.

At the very bottom of the Bulletin:

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Blu-Ray and DVD

• War Games Map Pack Access

The competitive multiplayer modes of Halo 4 are known as War Games. The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps - three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE. Yes, you read that correctly; you get nine maps in the form of future DLC with the purchase of the Halo 4 Limited Edition. Score!

Unlike standard edition, you get these 9 maps free. Think about it. 3 map packs that you do not have to pay for.

• Specializations

Everyone will have access to select Specializations, but those that purchase the Halo 4 Limited Edition will receive the ability to unlock six Specializations early, available at launch on Xbox LIVE. You can use them, one at a time, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career. In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customization options. We’ll be releasing more information about Specializations at E3, so expect additional details about this particular feature then.

You will, 100% as advertised, recieve these 6 specializations early. In no words does this state you will be the only people who recieve it early. Even so, you will have it weeks before the standard editions recieve theirs early…

• UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet

The UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet includes a Spartan armor customization schematic, information about UNSC weapons, an introduction to the massive ship UNSC Infinity, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity’s finest warriors: The Spartan-IVs. Story lovers will especially enjoy this in-fiction offering that provides a glimpse into the indoctrination of Spartans aboard the Infinity.

More cool stuff Standard doesn’t get… Man, I sure hate 343 about now…

• Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition

The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel ever: the UNSC Infinity.

Digital content also includes in-fiction bonus content that expands the characters and stories of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, special featurette Bringing Gaming into Reality, and a behind the scenes look at the making of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.

Cheated out of a DVD you say? Read hard. I see no DVD, no Blu-ray, no VHS, MP4… you get it.
All I see is DIGITAL SERIES. Yea there will be a DVD, but not in the LE. And it says NO WHERE that you get one with it.

• Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE

The Limited Edition includes the following bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE: unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set.

Exclusive in-game emblem? Let’s see what else is exclusive… Scanning, Searching… OH MY! NOTHING!

So as you can all plainly see, your cries are in vain. You get what was advetised. Nobody lied, nobody did you wrong. If anyone can prove me wrong without being scummy about it (I don’t mind sarcasm and snarkiness clearly) then I will give multiple Doritos codes for you too feel you got something extra for your precious LE.

That’s my mistake. I meant in the LE. I’m aware of a hard copy release later on.

Ehem.

Everyone has to reach lvl 50 before any specialization, it was stated earlier.
Even if you got LE.

They confirmed the exclusivity of the avatar props of LE and it’s skin on the twitter message.

Season pass= 25$
Separate map packs 34$ with tax

Dude if i bought everything seperately in the LE (anything thats worth a damn)it would most likely be 20 dollars more than the LE. Im not getting the two helmets that come with the standalone season pass, Im basically getting two weeks early access to the specializations which mind you isnt even enough time to get to SR-50. Basically im paying more for an emblem and skin which will probably be unlocked in the game for everyone. Some papers i will read once. And a metal box god i love my exclusive box and papers. Is it really all to much to ask for something that cheap rats wont have.

Specs
It’s once you hit SR-50, you can use a Spec. LE has 6 Specs to choose while SE only has 2. However, from the Bulletin:
“The rest, which are listed below, will gradually be made available in the months following launch.”

> You will, 100% as advertised, recieve these 6 specializations early. In no words does this state you will be the only people who recieve it early. Even so, you will have it weeks before the standard editions recieve theirs early…

Basically LE has a head start… but today we got an (http://view.engage.xbox.com/?j=fe9d16717764067a71&m=feca167070610c7c&ls=fe6512707d65077f7116&l=feb81c7877610d7a&s=fe1f1774736d037d7d1679&jb=ff951579&ju=fe5f10707563037d7d12&uid=82648354&tid=&r=0) from Microsoft stating SE can obtain those 6 Specs(LE exclusive) too if they play on XBL by Nov. 20th.

And yet in light of all this, LE buyers are getting what was advertised from the beginning. Maybe other approaches make more economical sense, but the LE is what it is. A release package made in limited quantities. You get a few things no other version gets. Anything else is just gimme gimme gimme. No real collector would care about other people having armour they have, but having a tin case and a few booklets and things. It’s like watching two girls fighting over wearing the same dress at prom. Who cares if everyone else has the same armour skin? It makes no difference.

Cheap rats? You sound like a brat. The metal box and papers are what most LEs come with for many other games. If you want to pay $40 for a skin on a helmet, and use it to call other people cheap, then I honestly feel bad for you.

Standard Edition holders get those six specializations as well. If they play by November 20th. So they get Specializations early too.

Documentaries/Shorts are usually in hard copies in Limited Editions. 343i failed to say in their advertisements that the FUD w/ extended cut will be available only through internet stream. It would be preferable if the FUD was in a Hard Copy so that LE buyers could watch it offline instead of requiring internet.

The Skin is for the default armor. Who would use an AR after they unlock a BR or DMR? Exclusive Emblem? Doesn’t look that good IMO. Avatar Props? Useless since you can’t show them off over Live.

Still, it’s a bargain for $100 if you ask me.

I agree with just about everything you’ve posted. I still stand firmly in saying that 343 did not go back on any promises, or cheat people out. Everyone is getting exactly what was advertised. Does that mean the LE is a good deal? Well, that is subjective. I think so, many disagree and they are entitled to that opinion.

The FuD bit is the only thing I disagree with you about. I feel the lack of “hard-copy” or “dvd” used anywhere, and the inclusion of “digital” assumed enough that no hard copy would be included.

> Show me where it says the 6 specs are LE exclusive as you claim though. I can’t find that bit. Anywhere.

Technically like you say, they’re not exclusive. But you get to use them earlier. Before 343i unlocks the rest of the Specs for us to use, then you could kind of say… they are exclusive.
