Soundtracks - read 343

Hope so much the soundtracks will be good as H CE/2/3 and not awful as H4 ( - edit - some of them were good as for example 117, but most of them were aful), do not insert dubstep in Halo 5, it’s awful, these soundtracks you made are great:

Halo 5 Guardians Multiplayer beta main theme

Halo 5 Guardians animated poster (this would be the perfect sound style for Halo 5)

this soundtracks style from H4 was terribly awful:

adamj004 described better my thoughts:

“I heavily disagree. Halo 4’s music wasn’t bad music, but my problem with it is that nearly all of the tracks are not memorable and didn’t give the game an Identity like Halo 1-3’s did. Marty created tracks that are memorable and gave the Halo series it’s own unique identity because of that. Don’t mean to be harsh or anything but many of Halo 4’s music could fit in with any game or movie of the same genre. They don’t stand out like the others.
If someone put on a track from the original trilogy at random I’d know where it’s from the second it plays. That’s the problem I have with Halo’s 4’s music. Marty created Scores, themes, mini themes and that’s what made them memorable. They had melodies that made them memorable and I could list tons of them of the top of my head. Many non Halo players would even recognize the main Halo theme whereas many Halo players (like me) wouldn’t recognize nearly any of Halo 4’s soundtracks. I also think the originals helped create a great atmosphere for the lore for Halo 1-3 and contributed greatly to the universe a lot better, whereas Halo 4 didn’t do that or at least a good.”

I actually liked the Halo 4 soundtrack, especially 117, that was an amazing piece of music

yeah, some of them were great but most of them were really awful…

343 had released two albums with Halo 4 music: one with the original scores and one with remixes. The original one does not contain dubstep (the closest to that is the finale in the track “Revival”), but they mostly used the remixes in commercials and such. I’m not a big fan of the remixes either, but the original score is lovely in my opinion. I personally wouldn’t mind them continuing like they have OS wise.

Have you listened to “Arrival”? If you like 117 then you’ll likely like that one as well.

the H4’s soundtracks I like are “117”, “Arrival”, “this Armour” and the “Never Forget” like theme, for other Halo game the list would be a lot longer, I would like to be able to say this also about Halo 5G, the awful soundtracks style from Halo 4 is this.

Oh yeah, that one, forgot about that. It’s among the ones I like least of the Halo 4 OS, though it gets better once the symphony takes over in my opinion.

It’s a definite shift in instrumentals, but as long as the feel is epic (and preferably through symphonic music) I don’t mind the type of music much (except if it gets too extreme in those remixes).

Actually, none of them were awful. Some were great, and others were pretty good. Halo 4’s soundtrack is right up there with the others. It’s just different, which is not a bad thing. Marty’s music would not work in Halo 4 and presumably Halo 5. The tone of the games is much too different to allow for the same bouncy heroic music as the old games.

Sacrifice, 117, and Arrival are my top three Halo 4 tracks.

Don’t equate “not Marty” with “awful”.

Who are you to decide what is awful? If you don’t like it, you don’t like it and that’s fine. Your opinion on the music is completely subjective. Unless you’re a master musician with years of experience making and studying music then I don’t think you have the right to make a statement on the objective quality of the music. If you don’t like it say you don’t like it, but don’t say its awful because you’re using your personal preference as means to judge what is good and bad.

H4 soundtrack didn’t sound epic to me.

I agree with the fact that old soundtracks would not have worked well on H4 but the style was not what I wanted from a Halo game’s soundtrackas, I also love H3 odst, Reach and Wars soundtracks

I don’t think you know what dubstep is.

dude, in fact it is my opinion, lol

meh, people should make music with instruments, not computers.

It should interest you to know, that most of the tracks that are considered to be more popular, 117 being the obvious choice, where made by that kazuma guy, while the less popular tracks are made by somebody else. Most of the music from the second CD were made by Kazuma, which is why its more popular. It should also interest you to know, that Kazuma has been hired to replace the other guy as the MAIN composer for Halo 5.

What about “To Galaxy?”

Don’t know off the top of my head but I think it was the other guy. I only thought it was okay, “117”, “Wreckage”, and “Mantis” were my favorites, and they were done by the Kazuma guy

That was Neil Davidge, and one of the few he did that I love

For “To Galaxy” there are actually a few fan remixes of the song out there that are pretty cool.

I think it’s really subjective to the fan. I personally found many of the Halo 4 tracks to be really catchy and iconic, such as Nemesis, To Galaxy, 117, Sacrifice, and probably the most classic sounding one: This Armor. One reason that people might be thinking it doesn’t feel like Halo is that it lacks the iconic theme, such as the monks and the infamous warthog run music. But to be fair, not all of us liked the Electric Guitar or the use of Hoobastank, Breaking Benjamin, and Incubus in Halo 2 or the over- reliance on remixes for Halo 3.
