My personal plea for a retail soundtrack. Surround-sound format would be amazing as well. Food for thought…
The soundtrack will certainly be available digitally, and probably in high fidelity from certain sources. As far as a physical retail release? At least on CD, I’d say odds are it doesn’t happen. Look out for a limited vinyl pressing though; those are very common these days.
Looking forward to it! I have all of them on CD so far.

Yeah CDs are obsolete but not for the obvious reason of digital distribution. They are heavily compressed and limited to stereo. SACD, DVD-AUDIO and Blu-ray audio are all surround-sound formats. I’m not saying we all need physical discs but surround-sound soundtracks via digital distribution is very possible.
P.S. I know, I’m THAT guy but it doesn’t hurt to build a conversation and ask politely.
I failed to disclose in my original response that I’m certainly no audiophile personally. It’s very fair and appropriate for you to voice a demand for a high fi multi-channel release (physical or otherwise). I’m too much of a layman to notice much of a difference between compressed mp3’s and lossless formats myself, but I definitely think the higher quality there is available the better for all of us.
“That Guy,” on these forums is the one who has zero self-awareness or conversational grace, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about that if I were you. It’s completely fine to be an especially avid and knowledgeable sound expert, as long as it doesn’t drift into telling other people inane things like insinuating that they have a lower intelligence for listening to compressed audio. I’ve come across those guys on all kinds of forums, and you definitely don’t seem like that sort. Hopefully 343i keeps in mind the hi-fi demand when they get around to producing and releasing the final OST for release :]

Is it common for game developers to release their game’s soundtrack on vinyl?
@tuhin94: 343i has already done it for both the Anniversary games and Halo 5, I believe Bungie has done it for at least one of the Destiny games. Mass Effect Andromeda’s OST got a limited pressing too, if I remember right. Numerous games in the Assassin’s Creed series have them too.
I believe they’re almost all fairly limited pressings on account of a small-ish market and the fact that they work out to be great collectors items. But they do seem to have become pretty common in the past handful of years and judging off of 343i’s track record with them alone I’d say the odds Infinite gets one are pretty high. Vinyl’s just a well defined hobbyist niche with enough overlap into gaming demographics, I guess.

Much appreciated. You know, I really had no idea vinyl releases were a thing for games and now I have learned something new and very cool!
I certainly hope that there is a CD version of the soundtrack. I have every Halo soundtrack on CD aside from Halo Wars 2, Halo 4, and Halo 5: Guardians though I plan on buying them in the near future.
I am definitely buying the CD if it does release if it doesn’t I hope it is at least posted on YouTube or something
The Original Halo Classic Soundtrack is the best of course, however Halo Infinite soundtrack I would definitely be buying, prefer digital edition don’t have cd player.

Vinyl died when CDs came out then they brought vinyl back and CDs are hard to get know plus stuff is going digital now this really sucks IMO
I looked on amazon.com and Halo 5 has a soundtrack on CD not just digital or vinyl so hopefully Halo Infinite will have one too
