Sound on headset, but voice coming through monitor

Hey y’all I used to work in IT for a while but I have bought a Razer 13 with windows 11 and I have a crazy bug iI can’t fix.

Xpox pad connected via usb to the laptop.
Laptop is usb-c docked to a monitor.

In game sounds like footsteps are fine, but vice comms comes out of the monitor.

All drivers seem up to date, I’ve changed the settings in game and in the xbox app, and in windows…

ITs probably a windpws 11 bug, but I cba to reimage my pc to windows 10…any one had anything similar?

I don’t play other games with voice comms, so I can’t test that without atm sorry.

Oh I have the same issue with another dock, and another monitor of the exact same model. But already checked drivers and all seem up to date.

Check your Sound settings. There is a difference between “Default Device” and “Default Communications Device” when it comes to sound output. Very few games use anything beyond the “Default Device” but in Halo MCC the same problem happens if you mix and match these two options. I think it’s tied to 343i being owned by Microsoft and how the PlayStation and Xbox consoles have an option that lets online communications come through a separate audio device.

I’m on Windows 10. Best of luck with Windows 11.

Thank you mate I will check again

Think I’ve cracked it should anyone see this.

In win 11 in sound options my monitor was set as “default for communications” while my headset was default for audio.

Make headset default for comms, now I just need someone to talk to!
