Heyo, this is a rant.
I’ve come across a lot of people that like 343’s sound effects minus a couple specific instances. This I do not understand at all.
This is a personal opinion, but damn everything that 343 has touched and reworked sounds like -Yoink- to my ears.
The click clack mack pack flack wack sounds whenever you fu****ng do anything feels to me like botox, makeup and fake eyelashes on a pig.
Check this video out: Does the Halo Infinite Needler sound good? - YouTube
From Halo CE to reach Bungie used (by the sounds of it) the exact same sound file for the needler in all of the games, get to halo 4 and the needler soundeffect is completely updated and IMO magnitudes worse than the original sound.
Get to the Halo infinite part and you can’t even hear the supercombine explosion due to the abnoxious click clack mack pack flack wack sound effects you get when you kill a target… Seriously, why the hell is that type of stuff in this game? Is 343 concious of how unappealing the sound effects are, so they try to drown out the bad effects that have replaced iconic sounds of the real halo trilogy? I dont get it. F**k whenever I hear halo infinite gameplay it just de-hypes me completely and takes out all faith of the game ever being any good.
I hate to be whining this much but god -Yoink!- why can’t they just make halo 3.5 or something, would be better than this delayed, “will be added after launch sometime whenever we get a grip” game.
I was this close to just remove all of that frustrated - whiny nerdrage up there, but I guess I’ll take some flak from the new era halo fans. Maybe someone will agree with me and make me feel a little bit sane at least

to address the needler specifically - the announced in their blog post that they’ve heard us and addressing it, recreating it closer to the original needler.
A FAN made this, so it’s obviously rough around the edges. But jesus this fixes like half of the game imo.

By the way I want to be clear about one thing. 343’s sound DESIGN is solid, it’s just how the sounds… sound that don’t agree with my specific ears.
Sounds like you might enjoy Halo 3.

Sounds like the vast majority of people have enjoyed Bungies halos over 343’s halos, maybe 343 and you should take a hint? o.O

I agree that some of the design feels off to me. Some of it feels like it is trying to sound more realistic, which I like… guns should be more staccato, I actually kind of like the new rocket launcher reload sounds and the speed/aggressiveness of the rocket launch sound, but I also feel like the sound design in Infinite has been lacking thus far. It doesn’t really feel like Halo… the two spots I dislike the most are from the 2020 gameplay demo. The warthog just sounds all wrong to me, way too clean. The worst of it is that pelican crash at the beginning… they really just don’t sell the crash to me at all… very underwhelming trailer overall but that was the first thing that got me, I almost thought something was wrong with the video.
