I feel like the initial Mangler gunshot needs to sound more metallic. Just that initial sound though. The rest of the sounds that follows the initial bang are nice! The faint sound of scraping metal is a convincing way to tell that there’s a metal spike launching out of this gun. I also love the sounds of the cylinder grinding to the next shot! Those specific sounds make me feel like I’m using a mini spike launcher.
However, I don’t get the same feeling when it comes to that initial gunshot. It sounds way too bass-y, like another laser/plasma gun. It’s kind of confusing if you close your eyes and listen. Every other sound is metallic, then there’s this sharp, plasma, bass sound. I really don’t think it fits in with the other sounds linked to this gun. I think any sort of metallic collision would make the gun sound more convincing that it’s shooting metal spikes. I want to be convinced that the Banished created a gun that launches fat tiny spikes/slugs. Something small (but heavy), robust, and clanky. Like a nice metalic CRACK! or some other onomatopoeia.
That’s my feedback/opinion on the gun. I’m curious what others think of the gun’s sound design as well. Thanks for reading : )
