So, I was watching Sotaro trying to play some of Marty’s music and it worried me that he was having trouble playing it correctly. Is anyone else worried about him being Audio Director or is it just me?
> he was having trouble playing it correctly
What do you mean?
Well I’m pretty sure he hasnt sat practicing the damn song. Let me see you play the song on a piano without knowing the exact notes!

Does he not have access to the notes…?
He isn’t supposed to learn martys songs he has to listen to them and take note of them, then he makes his own.
He seems quite competent.

It wasn’t the way it should have been. He even recognized it himself. I’m not trying to say hes a terrible person and shouldn’t be working on this I just loved Marty’s scores and to have something that is possibly of worse quality will be like a punch to the childhood. (How come no one ever mentions Michael Salvitori?)
He is the audio director, not the composer. He’s the one who organizes who does the game sounds, and who writes the music.

You didn’t understand my question. You said you saw him play badly. Where? Did you invite him over to your house? Was it from a video? Play what, the piano?
Um, can I find this in a video??
> Um, can I find this in a video??
On this page there is a video with Frankie and when the video is over kind of like youtube it suggests other videos and there are two with Sotaro, don’t remember what the vid I am speaking of is called.
He was saying that he was having trouble emulating Marty’s music. Not actually playing it.
That is partly why he sought an outside composer.
hmm…
I have watched the video.
It’s very obvious Sotaro isn’t a pianist, but he doesn’t have to be to be a fantastic Audio Director.
Also, what he was trying to play isn’t exactly the easiest thing to play: “One Final Effort”'s theme isn’t exactly… pianistic.
(Pro tip: I’m a pianist.)
-Yoink!-, Sotaro seems to be such a fantastic guy to be around! Such happiness, such drive! And such humbleness, too.

Off topic: That is the second time I have heard “humble” today o.o
OT: I guess we will just have to wait and see? or rather hear. I think it’s going to be amazing no matter what because… it’s Halo, and they are devoted to Halo. please don’t screw up…

Sotaro is an amazing audio director, however he’s not the composer. Sotaro oversees the game sounds (weapons, environments, soundtrack, literally everything that makes noise within the game), however he doesn’t create the soundtrack - that’s Neil’s job.
What are you referring to n your OP? What is he playing incorrectly? Have you heard any of his work within Halo (not Neil’s work, Sotaro’s work)?
who said no ?
