Sort out Infection!

My infection ideas from a previous thread:

Sniping Dead - Snipers for humans, infinite ammo, 50% zombie speed, zombies have armour lock and shields :slight_smile:
Save One Weapon - Normal Alpha Zombies, Humans have a choice of Magnum or shotgun loadouts with double ammo.
Double Agents - Normal AZ, humans/zombies both have Hologram :slight_smile:

Zombies is an -Yoink!- in Reach. Halo 3 zombies was a lot of fun but now it’s just awful.

How you ever thought the people simply don’t like the maps after seeing gameplay?

Yes I have actually, I do believe that the people who dislike some of the maps are the problem. NOT the people who are cheap. I will refer you to Halo 3.

Halo 3 was mostly DLC required, it had a high population and people were happy to buy the maps. Then they changed it so only a few playlists were DLC required… you were lucky to play a DLC map outside of the few playlists that still required DLC. Then they changed it back to DLC required for most playlists and the population was still the same. This suggests that the problem is not cheap people, but rather people who dislike the maps.

Based off that, I don’t reckon there will be a problem with making some playlists DLC required. Playlists that don’t need it or won’t work well with the DLC such as Team Slayer, Team SWAT, Multi Team, Rumble Pit and the Community playlists should not be DLC required.

Zombies needs friendly fire to be turned off. A plethora of new maps which are meant for infection to be injected ASAP and, of course, some weapons on the map (DMR or something) and some new gametypes/old Halo 3 ones.

I think that the issue is, in halo 2/3 zombies people didn’t spawn with a battle rifle… it was shotguns/pistols

No, in infection we DO spawn with a battle rifle… its called the pistol. The scope on the pistol makes it just like a battle rife… extending the range to an annoying level for the zombies.

My solution: Make a gametype were you can’t scope in with weapons. I don’t know if this would be possible but I think it’d be the best solution

I feel like the scopes were attempted to be balanced with evasion… but lets just get rid of AA’s as well

No more rolling off Acension as a zombie… no more sniping as humans. Just good old infection. If we were to get rid of scopes and people were sooo desperate to keep in armor abilities, just give everyone sprint.

I don’t know if this would be possible… but it would make infection 10000% better. It would be halo2/halo3 zombies again.

Adding on to that, living dead could do away with betrayals and disable friendly fire. This will make the complainers happy as many hate being betrayed without the option to boot. Remember, this isn’t a competitve playlist and is unrealistic even in a Halo sense. This wouldn’t hurt living dead, nay, it would improve it

Also, just give humans shotguns and be done with it. No scoped weaponry.

Hmmm the BR isn’t in Reach. It’s called the DMR.

doesnt matter, they can still pick people off without the scope. IMO they should replace the pistol with the plasma pistol, medium (if you can use it) range weapon that doesnt piss the heck out of zombies.

Uhh… the point of getting rid of the scope would be to make it more difficult to pick off people… it was fine in halo 2 / 3 so i dont see why it’d be any different in reach

Not so much a suggestion to fix matchmaking infection, but custom infection games. Bring back the team voice settings that were in Halo 3. So many classic infection games could not be properly remade in Reach because of the fact that zombies and humans can hear each other at all times regardless of proximity.

To me and many others, the voice settings in Reach’s infection kind of ruins the whole feel. You can’t tell other humans “You watch this spot and I’ll watch this spot” because the zombies will hear you.

thats what i said. The bullet magnetism is so high, that removing the scopes wouldn’t do a whole lot, because people could still snag headshots.

Before any of that, custom infection maps would prove much more fun to play on. Thats an easy forge fix in most cases.

This needs to be priority numero uno.

Before they did any of that I’d want to see, community maps, new and classic gametypes like speed demons and creeping rockets, then I’d want friendly fire completely removed from infection.

If they took out the magnum all together I’d want infinite ammo for the shotty, or atleast be able to pick up ammo from dead bodies since you can’t betray. Or maybe just give us more shotty ammo and 2x frags to start with

I love zombies I play it all the time but what bugs me the most is the bulltrue glitch and team killers.

Maps are easy to do, and classic gametypes are easy to do. We don’t need to get rid of the magnum completely, just make it to were we cannot scope in. If that can’t be done i guess its shotguns only, or infection cannot be fixed…

Make zombies immune to headshots.

With the exception of betrayals – which can easily be fixed – the current Alpha Zombies variant plays perfectly on balanced maps that are fair to both sides (that is, in Customs). Before any gametype fixes are considered, the playlist needs to have its entire map rotation* replaced with balanced maps.

There are two exceptions to that: we need Friendly Fire and Sword Block disabled ASAP. The former is more urgent than the latter.

Once we receive those two fixes and a proper map rotation, we’ll be able to see just what needs to be done. But as it stands, the maps are such a huge problem that it’s impossible to know for sure what really needs a gametype fix, and what would be fixed by the maps. (But it’s obvious that most of the problems would be fixed with new maps. We just don’t know which problems, in some cases.)

  • Arena Zealot could be kept if the bottom of gold lift is blocked and/or softkilled, and if some Human Initial Spawns are moved further away from the Zombie Initial Spawn hive.

Seriously, it’s all betrayals now. Every human kills all humans around them to camp in one spot and get all the kills. 343, can you please put friendly fire off or at least give players an option to boot after 2-3 betrayals?

living dead sucks
