Sort out Infection!

All there is is Alpha Zombies, why? What happened to standard Infection, Save One Bullet, Speed Demons etc?

Reach was released, people’s expectations changed.

I like Living Dead as of now, so does everyone else, it’s the most popular playlist.

But I wouldn’t mind seeing a few new gametypes, NOT MAPS, Gametypes, most forged Infection maps are horrible.

If Speed Halo gets put into Living Dead, I will just cry of sadness.

I have no idea if Safe Haven is in Living Dead or not but it should be, I found that quite fun.

I think some forged infection maps would be really good.

Safe Havens was removed due to the obvious fact that it was broken. No one is stupid enough to attack an invincible opponent.

Living Dead needs to be DLC required, it has the player count and it needs the maps. Sword Base, The Cage, Sword Base, The Cage, Sword B… It gets boring after a while. Once Anniversary is released, if DLC is required we should have at least 13 maps in the rotation (8 default maps + 2 DLC + 3 CEA, not including variants).

DLC should NOT be required in my opinion, it’s the most popular playlist in Reach and most likely will be for a long time, people shouldn’t be forced to buy something that wouldn’t exactly, play well.

Tempest, Anchor 9, Breakpoint - No. They just wouldn’t suit it.
Condemned - Could sort of work
Highlands - Big no, to big, camping would be a joy.

Anchor 9 works, I have actually managed a few games of this somehow.
Condemned looks good on paper.
Breakpoint, Tempest, Highlands are obviously too big so they wouldn’t be in the playlist.

Damnation looks good on paper.
Beaver Creek looks good on paper.
Hang 'Em High looks good on paper.
Timberland will most likely be too big.

The fact is that the maps should, and most likely will play just as well, if not better than the default maps. Plus, the majority of people already have bought the maps. The problem is the people who have deleted the map packs because they dislike 1 or 2 maps and the ones that are lazy

However, if you are fine with playing 6 out of 10 games on Sword Base and 3 out of 10 games on The Cage… then I rest my case.

Nah, I’m with you bro, I am all for changing it up, I completely forgot to talk about the Remakes and how well a lot of them would play and the others we don’t yet know about.

I don’t like playing Sword Base constantly, it’s not exactly the funnest thing being a Zombie for 3 rounds and having my K/D lowered because people can’t move out of the Red Lift.

Anyways, I wish they would implement a system were it matches you up with other players who have DLC so you have more of a chance @ playing it, this way they could add the current Map Packs without forcing people to pay for them.

> I like Living Dead as of now, so does everyone else, it’s the most popular playlist.

I’m actually happy for you and everyone else that you like Living Dead that much. I just don’t understand it, try as I might. =)

> All there is is Alpha Zombies, why? What happened to standard Infection, Save One Bullet, Speed Demons etc?

The novelty gametypes were the worst things I have ever seen created using Halo 3’s user-created content systems.

> NOT MAPS, . . . most forged Infection maps are horrible.

You’ve clearly been looking in the wrong places, then. And the only thing Living Dead needs is new maps. New gametypes that aren’t awful – and that automatically excludes Speed Demons and Creeping Hammers/Rockets – are a luxury, not a requirement. The playlist must be made bearable before it can be made extraordinary.

> Living Dead needs to be DLC required, it has the player count and it needs the maps.

Absolutely not. Not all DLC maps are guaranteed to have an Infection-suitable design. Limiting the playlist to DLC would be a major misstep.

Infection’s reputation has been tarnished by this playlist and, to a lesser extent, by its better-but-still-awful incarnation in Halo 3. A misstep cannot be allowed to happen.

> However, if you are fine with playing 6 out of 10 games on Sword Base and 3 out of 10 games on The Cage… then I rest my case.

You’re completely forgetting that we have Forge, and that the community can design Infection-suitable maps.

Nor do I, and Infection is the only thing in Reach that I am capable of truly enjoying.

Too big you say? Add 16 players with Speed Demons an then let’s see if it’s too big.

Betrayal booting needs to be turned on and custom maps and gametypes need to be added. Until that happens, I will not play it.

> Betrayal booting needs to be turned on

Oh, okay. I hope you enjoy getting booted out of matches repeatedly because of the infection glitch, then.

> All there is is Alpha Zombies, why? What happened to standard Infection, Save One Bullet, Speed Demons etc?

I agree, it is a bit boring. It got old after awhile, didn’t even compare to Halo 3 Infection, and with Halo 3 there was a sense of exclusivity to it that Reach was lacking, as Reach made it a playlist as opposed to Double XP Weekend. It needs more gametypes like those you mentioned, they had Save Havens at one point, but it was the dumbest thing I’d ever played on Halo, but the maps also need to be changed. The maps that infection can be played on are just bad , Asylum, Pinnacle, and Sword Base, horrible, everyone just takes an invincible vantage point to where if you’re a zombie, all you want to do is quit.

I miss the old days from Halo 3 playing the all kinds of game types on custom maps on Rats Nest, Sandbox, Foundry, Avalanche, SANDTRAP, so fun. It was just unpredictable, crazy, actually challenging, and way more balanced.

What happen to being able to boot people? i hate getting killed by my team mates all the time and i can’t boot them. Fix this 343.

> What happen to being able to boot people? i hate getting killed by my team mates all the time and i can’t boot them. Fix this 343.

Again, booting was turned off so people would stop getting erroneously booted from shooting a zombie if you were a human. The network has this issue that if you kill a zombie at the same time as him killing you, it would count as you betraying the zombie. And people get booted for that. A lot. I’d rather get betrayed by teammates than get booted because I was playing the game normally.

there needs to be maps that are actually meant for infection

FFS, if people would just spend a whole FIVE dollars when the maps were HALF price, then almost everyone would have the maps, stop being so -Yoink!- cheap! When the classic maps come out, dlc should be required FOR ALL gametypes, im sorry, but one year after release, you people should have the maps. That and the current maps need to be forged a bit, block off some of the grav lift rooms in sword base with sandbags like they do in MLG zealot, it would be a simple fix to a really annoying map,

I find Infection boring too, the maps supports campers sadly…

Camping is fine, as long as it’s not completely zombie-proof. The sad thing is in Reach is the fact that most of the camping spots are either impossible for zombies, or possible for zombies…if nobody shoots at them.
All the good custom infection maps I’ve played have had secret (or obvious) ways for zombies to bust open a camping spot, meaning humans would sort of migrate from spot to spot during the game, and it was usually guaranteed that someone would get picked off every migration.

A good example of this is Foundation on Halo 2 - very simple map, 4 rooms full of debris that you could melee into the doorway.
The entire game of infection revolved around zombies doing anything they could to bust into those rooms - whether it was smashing it open or jumping through - or by doing what I usually did and rolling fusion coils to the doorway and suicidally detonating them, blowing apart the barricade and luckily getting a few splatter infections in the process. The only thing stopping them from taking down the barricade was a steady hail of bullets, but after humans ran out of ammo they’d have to migrate to the next room for more.

Boring? Really?

How could going to a predisposed location on any map and camping be boring?
