First off let me say I trashed you guys when the new playlists came out. I wasn’t happy and when I played Slayer Pro I got destroyed.
I was intent on turning my frustration into a war. I had several go arounds with LightspeedFlash. I just didn’t get all the awe that was paid to Classic or Purist Halo at least as Classic as Halo 4 will allow.
I was happy playing Infinity Slayer.
I took Lightspeed’s advice and gave Slayer Pro a shot. Not just playing a few games and then saying Ok I tried and then quit. I played and got destroyed and then played some more. It was frustrating but in a positive way.
I’m not sure how many games of Slayer Pro I have played but I have begun to find a rhythm. I’m not scoring in the 250’s but I’m productive for my team. Between 8 and 11 kills, 4 to 6 assists, and 5 to 7 deaths.
Not the greatest but it’s a huge improvement compared to when I started. I understand now. I’ve had more fun the past few days thanks to LightspeedFlash’s advice. He didn’t say go play man. He just said it’s different. I wanted to see why.
So, let me just say I’m sorry to the Slayer Pro players. And thanks. I got a whole new game to play and skils to learn and hopefully friends to meet and play with. Semper Fi Infinity and Slayer Pro Spartans. Godspeed.
okay. glad to hear you at at least trying it. it is a more fun experience, less random deaths is always good for me.
but i never told you to try to play it. i simply said why i play it.
i only ever told you that you didnt HAVE to play it if you did not want to . and then i gave ways to get out of playing the gametype. the same ways i use to avoid Infinity.
Still. Good advice and I’m glad you did. Got me thinking why it was different. Anyways, I’m happy I started playing Pro. Wish I would have played this from the beginning. See you out there Master of Unicorns. May the wind be at your back.
Welcome to a slice of heaven my friend. I know its frustraiting at first but trust me when I say that even though Infinity Slayer “rewards” you Slayer Pro is the one who actually rewards you by improving your skills, teaching you how to use communication and improving your awareness etc.
sigh.
my heart has been broken by some of the comments of the Pro haters. I have no respect for a couple of them. You, as much pain as I have been forced through trying to support Pro by you guys, at least get a little of my respect back.
It’s just UNBELIEVABLE what has been posted in the past week against Pro; and all it is, is something that most of us has wanted since Halo 4 came out with all. those. CHANGES.
A classic experience. Now I don’t know how to feel about a lot of people left here on waypoint because clearly a lot of people don’t respect those that want that.
> sigh.

That’s the Halo community for you, -Yoink!- if you do, -Yoink!- if you don’t.
Haven’t played Slayer Pro yet, but I’ll be willing to give it a shot.
At first I had to get used to the no radar. I was getting crushed right and left. Figured out you have to get with your team and watch each others back. Infinity Slayer you have way more leeway to go ROGUE. It doesn’t really teach you to be aware of your surroundings because you don’t need to be. They do it for you with Radar.
I just started getting into Pro and I like it. I’m not ready for the 4 vs 4 competitive stuff by a long shot but everytime a Pro playlist comes up I jump on it. The percentages are still slanted to Infinity Slayer selections. As far as I can tell. I try to play late at night. More Pro playlists get played.
Gonna stay on course and keep playing Pro. I have challenged myself to become a better player and have fun at the same time. Not sure how things will shake up but I’m having more fun now by having started to play Pro games.
It would be nice to hook up with a good group of players and do some team training and perhaps even a bootcamp of some sorts. Teach basic skills and weapons training with tactics etc… That would be cool. Have a scheduled time each week trainees get together and learn from some of the best.
Oh well. Just a thought.
Good on you man for trying something new, giving it a chance and seeing the light so to speak
Kinda feels good to remove a lot or the random elements from the game and actually work as ateam eh
It’s empowering. I didn’t know it could be so challenging. It’s not easy. The mic I had died and man did I get a nice talk from one of the players I was with. I spent the whole game just following him and watching his back. I learned a valuable lesson. Communication is key. The effectiveness of your team depends on cummunicating threats.
To be honest I’m like a big sponge. Soaking up as much knowledge as I can. I’m amazed at the skill levels of these guys. But that’s why I started playing Pro. Guess you can tell I’m excited about my transition. Best move I ever made.
Thanks for the encouragement.

That’s awesome dude/dudette!!!(im not sure which one applies lol)
I can only hope more players decide to do the same as you have or at least try it out instead of just bashing on the Slayer Pro players.
I am crying tears of joy. I truly wish more players could feel like you right now.
Add me on my GT: “pro pipe is pro” if you have any questions or want some help getting better.
I’m just glad there’s some variety in the slayer playlists now. Both playlists should have a lot of different slayer variants and not just Infinity Slayer.
I agree with the OP and have had a similar experience.
I am a bad player. Not a little bad, but a lot bad. And when I first saw the Pro settings (all 3 options were Pro), I was quite annoyed. Got crushed and turned the console off.
Since then, though, I’ve tried to make the best of it. Pro can be fun. I still get crushed, but screw the stats. It is forcing me to learn some things I didn’t realize I didn’t know.
I do have one worry, though. I don’t think most people will be like the OP and myself. If they feel forced into Pro (whether they actually are or not is a separate question - what matters is if they think they are being forced), they may stop playing altogether. Populations are already low. Since Pro, the population seems a bit lower.
While I do not have a problem anymore with Pro from my personal perspective, I am not sure it was a great idea for the population.
Regardless, I second the OP’s post.
I have learned so much in the past week. It has just been one learning experience after another. Games are played and before I shut it down for the day I make notes and reminders in case future scenarios, that are similar, present themselves.
I’m starting to see changes in my approach to certain situations. I’ve learned that retreating is not always a bad thing, especially if your retreat puts you in a more defensible position. Before I would just charge in with guns blazing not concerned for myself or how it would impact my team.
Sometimes it worked out. Usually, I ended up dead and my team was short a gun to either repel the enemy or support the advance. Now I’m there. Moving and looking. Checking my six and keeping an eye on the backs of my TEAM. Communicating threats and following the lead of the senior member. Grunt stuff. Good stuff. Marine Corps stuff. OOH. RAH!!!
Hope I get to play with some of you guys. It would be my honor.
Man, I’m always looking to play with people, good bad or other wise hit me up
GT: xTheMorningstar
There is something exhilarating about listening to a call out for someone one shot at top yellow or where ever and then turning around to finish the kill with a head shot
You know what sets most people apart in this game?
The ability to communicate with their team
The more you talk the more situational awareness you have and the better everyone plays
Hell even if my team doesn’t have a mic, I’m still using call outs because I know at least they can hear me and listen to what I am saying

I agree. If anyone wants to play hit me up my GT is “ThatSpartanDude”
Just love how we saw all this “eww w, why slayer pro?” Then it turns into “slayer pro? Oh guys, here’s my gt, lets get on and play!” - thats why slayer pro
Slayer pro will always fail as its own playlist because no one ever starts their Spartan Career hopping into slayer pro and liking the over abundance of butt whoopin. It needs to be in the standard slayer playlist so players can play it occasionally as the grow in skill. If its in a playlist by its lonesome, no one will ever try it and those that try it just once probly will have a bad time of it.
Seeing posts like this on the internet makes me really happy, you never expect them
I have almost exclusively played Infinity Slayer and in the beginning I didn´t liked Pro but as OP I have started play them and I do like the gameplay with no radar and less plasma. Sometimes it is like waching a horror movie when you here steps behind you and you don´t know if it is a friend or enemy
Kind of exciting.
But one thing…I feel that, for example, the Banshee are more vulnerable on Pro than Infinity Slayer? On Exile I regularly got 10-15 kills with the Banshee in Infinity but on Pro that doesn´t happen. Are the players more focused to take the vehicles down or are they actually weaker?
I must also say that I actually miss Infinity Slayer on Exile…That alternative never shows up anymore. Meltdown, Vortex, Complex and Settler is by far the most common maps for the moment.
Respect is a two way street, I think the nasty comments have come equally from both sides. The popular theme I have seen is that infinity supporters are noobs, casuals, lack skill, are the cause of all the ills inflicted on h4 etc etc.
Pro supporters need to realise that people prefer different things.
I respect your preference for pro, why is it so hard for you to respect my preference?
