Sorry, Grifball is still Hostball.

It may not be as bad as the past games, but it’s still true. The host has a much easier time, and the client boxes get unpredictable results. I’ve already lost count of how many times me and the enemy swing at exactly the same time, and they win.

Not to mention, the priority of weapons STILL hasn’t changed. Hammer>Sword if both players do attack at the same time. It should be a draw.

Is it really so hard to fix this? I’d imagine the third installment of Grifball would have this fixed, but I see it’s still the same stupid crap that’s prevented me from enjoying the gametype. I already know there are lag compensation methods in game that make the impact normal gameplay detrimentally, and yet it seems like said lag compensation methods are not in this gametype.

Fix it.

This is how it’s always been and has worked fine. I played a few games earlier, no lag and we both died at same time swings with hammers.

If anything it needs to have throwing disabled so it’s like the classic.

No, it isn’t fine. The discrepancy for timing swings is different for every player and every game and sometimes things just aren’t consistant at all. Sometimes the bomb may beat the sword/hammer, sometimes it may trade, sometimes it’ll lose flat out.

It isn’t fun and I have no idea why so many people like it. It’s 90% luck because of peer to peer hosting.

I’ve always hated Grifball, so I could care less.

Wrong. If you couldn’t care less about Griffball, you wouldn’t be posting on a thread about it.

With all the client trust… I think it’s a improvement. Can’t complain with that… And I do like complaining uneccessarily. But really can’t in the case of griffball host issue.

It results in a lot of “from the grave” kills but that’s better than being killed and robbed of the kill you know you deserved due to lag. Really trying hard to complain but it feels acceptable.

The only thing I can complain about is the occasional bomb not being an effective weapon, the hammer one-shotting grif far more frequently than other games and the lag that got me killed multiple times. Of course all of these are occasional though and I am still enjoying grifball.

Hammer beats Sword
Sword beats Grif
Grif beats Hammer

That’s how Grifball was designed, and if it plays like that then I don’t see a problem here.

Learned something new today. Somebody said on another thread that thar is some passing mechanism. Is this true?

Halo 4 needed dedicated servers.

> Halo 4 needed dedicated servers.

And those servers would be located in the U.S. I assume? I see how that helps us… But if the connection sucks for our friends overseas then… That drop in populations hurts us all.
