Sorry but AR takes 0 skill

I’m just here to say that the news feed on my phone recommended this thread. So, that’s new.

They have to add guns like the AR that don’t take skill to keep players around.

lol @ saying the AR doesn’t take skill, it does. being able to control recoil and knowing where and when to aim for the head takes some skill. sounds like you’re just bad and getting beamed by ppl using the AR.

Yeah, I would also agree that trying to base all of your opinion on what X professional player says is how you get a game that’s sterile and bad.

That being said, I actually like the Assault Rifle now. It could definitely use some touching in the balancing department though, because I know people who don’t even bother touching other weapons in the sandbox. They just don’t see a point. Just don’t mess with it too hard, because the AR should not be useless.

Uh, two things dude:

  1. People use the pistol all the time; it’s a great weapon and I use it about as much as the AR.

  2. The pistol takes about the same amount of skill as the AR, which is approximately none. Shooting people doesn’t take skill, why does everyone act like it does? Every gun is just point at enemy and either hold or tap RT. The only weapons that aren’t that simple are a few of the special weapons. Using the weapon itself never takes skill; what takes skill is maneuvering to make aiming at you difficult, and predicting someone else’s maneuvers to aim at them anyway. That applies no matter what weapon you’re using, though admittedly the automatic weapons are inherently more forgiving because missing a single shot matters less. But this “X weapon is not a skill weapon” stuff is why in every other game there’s a clear weapon meta that invalidates all the other guns.

Problem is bullet magnetism is too high which basically nerfs the bloom.
That’s why it appears that the AR has an increased range.
Just tone down the bullet magnetism on the controller and it’ll feel much better.

EXACTLY THE PROBLEM!

Thank you for saying this.

So why do we start with it?

4v4 should be Sidekick start only. And 1 grenade.

Literally could say the same to you.

You don’t want to admit that your skill in the game lies in a weapon that is inherently very low skill necessary to get a very high reward and you just want to justify the kills you get with AR are valid example of your skill when it’s by far the most versatile and most forgiving, hence least skillful, weapon in the game.

Fun fact: if you’re complaining about AR players on console, try playing on pc. And you’ll see how much harder tracking is. Not to mention PC lobbies are full of pistol users and you basically see no AR users at all.

Anything that kills me takes no skill.

Social is about having a relaxed gameplay experience and the AR gives a more balanced approach for engagement to players of different skill levels. The skill gap is smaller then with precision weapons so an onyx players can’t just swamp an entire team.
There is still however reward in a good strafe and aim, the AR can kill with half it’s mag if used right and there are still a lot of players that struggle with getting a kill in a single map against some strafing.

I’m just a mid diamond player but found myself in quite some engagements where I could win a fight that the other initiated. And anytime someone just runs straight towards you the commando and sidekick win that fight even without first shot.

So I’m glad the gap between automatic dependant players and precision users has been made smaller for social so anyone can contribute

The AR is like a hybrid of halo 5s AR after Buff combined with the damn SMG. The only thing stopping it from being completely broken is its clip is too shallow to engage 1v2 effectively. Sure you can do it with luck and some accuracy. But it isnt viable.

Then dont use it or better yet, learn how to use it properly? Not a single other weapon would be better to start out with unless they bring back loadouts. I’ve used the AR since Reach and have never had an issue with it.

I wish they’d just turn the magnetism off, completely. The select few games that don’t have it are way more fun because when people miss… they miss. It makes battles much more interesting and less just “point and press RT”

It’s literally an automatic DMR at this point. And stans will fight to the end to try and explain why it’s balanced, when it’s not. It creates awkward gameplay and forces risky and dumb decision making on both parties involved in the fight. It takes little skill outside of some mouth breathers orating the obvious that you have to pace your shots. Wow, yeah it’s so hard and skill full to shoot for a second, stop and do it again yeah, so much skill, guys smh.

I agree that the AR at range is overpowered, but other than that I think its a well balanced gun like most of them.

Yes, let’s purposely put ourselves at a massive disadvantage in most fights.

No just AR.

Dude if you can’t aim this weapon with a mouse just sell your PC and find a new hobby LMAO

Looks like somebody is getting slapped around by the AR and is coping by saying it takes no skill to justify their own lack of skill
