Now I know that this is probably a pretty bad speculation, but what if the former spartan mentioned in Halo: nightfall is
dun dun dun…Soren 66.
Soren 66 was brought up on a colony world, his mother died of sickness. He stabbed his father out of anger and ran into the forest. Soon after learning how to live on his own he was found by Doctor Halsey, who gave him a choice. Become a spartan, or don’t. His augmentation went wrong and he did not get to be a full fledged field spartan. He worked with someone who did not particularly like the UNSC. Soon he convinced Soren to escape with him, but their ship was shot down. No bodies were ever found.
Unlikely. Soren’s deformities were so severe that I doubt he’d ever be able to look normal again, even with years of treatment. It’s far more likely to be Randall-037.
Yeah, Soren-066 was too deformed to be the Spartan in the trailer and even if he did survive Reach, you think ONI would give him freedom after his attempted defection and give him major surgery?

Troy aiken was just a guy I use to play halo 3 with, apparently aiken is a common name amoung halo fans.
Neat idea and I hope Soren pops up again, but I’d say no because Soren had very serious deformations after augmentations…those not familiar with him can find story in Halo Evolutions book…first story I think.

All we really know of him is based around his encounter with, and failure to stop Soren at the end of Pariah, that he wasn’t as sociable as Kurt, and that he is one of the few Spartan IIs Halsey truly considers to be MIA after his disappearance in 2532.

Randall didn’t leave, Soren did. Soren was badly deformed by the augmentations and not allowed to join the other Spartans. He got stuck with a desk job and started talking to a guy who kept feeding him Insurrection sympathetic ideas. Eventually he decided to leave and during his escape was found by Randall who Soren attacked before his friend shot Randall with a tranquilizer. Randall remained with the Spartans for another 5 years when he was declared MIA, but nothing more has been said about it.
I find it difficult to imagine that the ex-Spartan in Nightfall is anyone but Randall-037. I mean, come on! The guy’s first name is Randall, and I doubt he ever changed it (Serin Osman, anyone), he was actually MIA instead of covered-up KIA, and he would save 343 some of the trouble of introducing a new character.
