idk how you felt about campaign, but it was not the best Halo campaign to date, imo. Frankly, Halo 3 wins in the story category. BUT, I am very curious with what 343 plans to do with Halo 6. Spoiler ahead!
when the legendary campaign is over, we are teased with a Cortana-controlled Halo ring. I’ll throw a million dollars to bet that Cortana thinks that the only way to achieve the peace she desires is to activate Halo, kill everyone, and start over again. She’ll then unleash the flood to stop the humans and swords of sanghelios from destroying the ring. Player will fight forerunners and flood in Halo 6.

You make an excellent point, but remember the scene from Halo 3? Cortana has the original index and uses it to activate the replacement Halo ring. Chances are they would just rip on that.

She still needed the Chief to physically press the button.
Did she? I seem to remember them going up to the console after the Spark fight and Cortana transfer to it, activates with the index and that’s it… Running time!
She now has a physical form. And perhaps, she is offering to transmute all sentient beings into the domain, with hardlight bodies like hers, and live forever…
I say, let me live out my lifespan first, and then transfer me, LOL.
I’m sorry but h3 for best story? That’s an interesting choice. I have my problems with halo 5s story but I will admit the campaign was at least entertaining.
Well, Cortana has 3 options as far as I can tell
-Use the Guardians to enforce her rule
-Use the Composer (if there is any left) to compose all life in the galaxy
-Activate the Halo Array and start over

It isn’t impossible! but the librarian stored pockets of them on every ring so if the story calls for them they can bring them back
Despite being horribly disappointed in Halo 5’s story, I actually am somewhat interested in the possibilities this opens for Halo 6. Returning to a Halo ring and having to face down some Guardians (space battle please?) sound like they could be cool. Also, while I don’t know if it fits the story of Halo 6, at some point I would like to see the return of the flood and to see the Precursors. Anyway, hopefully 343 can actually write a half decent story this time, but I’m not going to get too excited.
yay, my thread took hold
there are certainly details about my theory that need developing. In Halo chronicles, a scene shows humans exiting some kind of mold in a forerunner world, after the first Halo activation. Cortana’s unique build based on Halsey may allow her to take a human form and turn on the ring. This would make the fight in the end all the more emotional and epic (alas, that part could not be until Halo 7.)

I feel like the campaign in combat evolved was the best imo. I mean tell me you didn’t -Yoink- a brick when you first had to fight the flood. Or when you heard that wicked guitar rip as your hauling -Yoink- in the warthog. Everything in the first halo was new and exciting that story was intense and a decent length. It didn’t depend on multiplayer for sales. I told an epic story of a lone hero.
Not to mention without the events in hce we wouldn’t have h2 through h5.
I personally loved the story. They had to do something new with Cortana because it was getting old with “save me chief save me!” That Bungie beat into the ground. Someone always has to come save Cortana. This was nice and refreshing. The trailers however straight up -Yoinking!- lied about the story -.-; Building up this whole epic chief vs Locke crap only to have a sub par at best fight that was sluggish and just bad for the hype. Bringing Blue Team and Halsy into the story was perfect in every way though would have been nice to see them in real action.
I personally loved all the Halo stories except Reach. It was ok but the it was a better book then a game. And while I loved Halo 3’s story the ending was the biggest -Yoink- you Bungie could ever have left us. It was like a screw you to the fans. “Oh is Chief going to live or is he going to die?! Well WE DONT CARE HAHAHA -Yoink- YOU” I am thankful 343 continued it. I could do without the lame -Yoink- team swapping though. Hated that in Halo 2, hated it in this one.

100% with you on this. Really would’ve liked more time with MC and his crew
I was pretty pissed off the first half of the game cause I was like “great another damsel in distress arc with Cortana” When she went all turbo -Yoink- 3000 I was pretty stoked.
We were told that they had Cortana living past Halo 4 planned from the get-go, but I still think the Didact was originally the villain. The story just makes more sense with him pulling the strings than Cortana just becoming whatever the heck she is in Halo 5.

She is in the Domain, and is taking up the mantel of responsibility, from my tiny knowledge of the domain, its a mega do anything you want to plot card.
