Sons Account temp banned from Earning credits?

Hey, this is our first time coming over here…my son’s account for some reason has been temporarily banned from earning credits…I thought it was just a mistake and would reset after a day or so, but it’s been 4 days and it’s still the same.

He is 10 years old and most of the time he plays around in the forge building maps with friends, or playing Zombies any more. There is no reason for the ban that I can think of.

How do I find out what the problem is and how to fix it? He’s still trying to rank up his guy, and he’s missed out on some of the challenges that he does every day…

Thanks for any help!

The reason he was banned was because he kept getting 0 kills in a game. The system detects that as AFKing, so it bans the player.

The ban should last for about 2 weeks, I think.

That’s not exactly fair. I also have a 3 year old that loves to play Halo w/ him, so he usually puts it on Big Team Battle so he can just run around and get in vehicles and drive around…he can’t kill anything except his own team mates from time to time lol…And the system should be able to detect that it’s the guest that’s not getting the kills not the main account no?

Is there a way around this? Can I contact Microsoft or bungie or whoever?

Nope. Sorry. You can’t really prove anything to 343i. You’ll just have to wait out the 2 weeks. The system isn’t perfect, but it does do its job (sometimes).

I just went over his game history…over 70% of the last 30 games are forgeworld, where he made custom race maps, that don’t even involve killing so their scores are negative from when falling off the map of the race…How can forgeworld be the reason for the ban?

What is 343? There has to be someone I can contact, surely if I can look at his game history, they can too, and clearly see there is no afking in matchmaking at all, and that this is ludicrous. I renew his subscription every year to play pretty much this one and only series, and now they are crippling his ability to play.

Recheck his stats, and this time, filter them so that only Matchmaking games are shown. I don’t know how to do this on Waypoint, but if you provide his gamertag, I can give you the relevant link for the stats on Bungie.net. Either site should be accurate.

Nope. No contact. Banhammer’s fully automated.

Credit ban is temporary. First “offense” is usually a day. Then a week. Then two. (IIRC.) I agree that it’s a stupid system, and that Bungie should have built actual AFK detection instead of trying to guess at it based on post-game stats and kill counts. Unfortunately, it’s too late for anyone to fix the problem now.

Your son will just have to wait out the ban. Wish I had better news or advice for you.

You might want to have them in Custom games, because the online is not really meant for 3 year old’s to screw around.

Most of what I have filtered and looked at is forgeworld…in the actual game play there are a few games with both of them, and you can clearly see that the main account is scoring and playing…This is also the first time he’s said the credit ban has happened so why has it lasted over 4 days?

I agree the system is very flawed…

That’s ridiculous…they do play custom games mostly, and forge, but he likes to play with other people too, and I try to keep them to more social less intensive game types like zombies and big team battle…it’s not like they are playing Slayer or Snipers or Double Team…I paid for the game, I pay for the service, I should be allowed to play it however I see fit, and if that means letting my 3 year old play big team battle with his brother then who cares.

If it’s that big of a deal, because I know lots of other kids that play too, then they should split up the matchmaking further into more social less rule intensive section and then a more ranking based serious style of matchmaking.

you might want to think about letting both your sons play BTB at the same time if neither of them get kills, it just draws down the unlucky team that their on

First of all, I’d like to say that it is very unfortunate that in your son’s case he was credit banned. If it is the case that he was banned because he wasn’t getting any kills in matchmaking, then that’s a shame. Obviously there are casual players that like to play halo like your son, and bungie should have thought about that when they created the banhammer. But I do have to agree with SF BloodBrother, there are a lot of people who like to play the game competitively, and have very strong feelings against people who are AFK, don’t contribute to team efforts or team kill. I know a lot of people who actually go as fair as sending hate mail to players who have these qualities, which are often hateful, crude and even vulgar. I’m sure you wouldn’t want your sons reading these messages. Besides sticking to custom games or Forge, which I would highly suggest, if they really do want to play with other people, the following playlists would be perfect for them:
-Action Sack (A very casual playlist that I have a feeling your kids would LOVE)
-Firefight (No team killing, and a fun cooperative gametype)
-Rumble Pit (Probably a more competitive game, but there are no teams, so they can play competitively without reducing any team score)
-Zombies (Like you suggested, fun and casual)
If they stick to these gametypes, they probably will be able to avoid future credit bans and hate mail. Hope you find these suggestions helpful, and I hope his credit ban will end soon!

Thanks for the post and appreciate the comments…that is pretty much all they play when they play together…big team battle, forge, and zombies…my older son plays the more competitive stuff alone…it just seems like a very flawed system…

It works for what it does. However it was never designed to support people under the age group intended for gameplay (15+) So if your kids enjoy Halo (which is great) don’t be surprised if things don’t work out fairly. After all, it’s a game of violence (mainly) and is meant for an older demographic than age 10.

My 3 year old plays with me from time to time. He rarely gets kills when he does play with me. I have never been banned.

It sounds to me like your older son is the one not getting the kills. Explain to him that he has to at least get one kill in every round of infection. If he can not do this, then perhaps you need to rethink his ability to play this game.

If you are a parent, you would realize that this game is rated M for Mature.
Im fairly sure that 10, and 3 aren’t really old enough to be playing the game anyway.
Maybe to your parent standards, but not really the game standards.

Also, having a 3 year old running around in Big Team Battle killing his own team mates really brings down the team, and they lose, majority of the time.

Im not trying to sound immature, or ignorant, but Im fairly sure that it’s people like you, that get me, and many other people matched up with bad team mates, because they’re little kids not knowing what the hell is going on, or they’re just horrible.

Please, let the children stick to Custom Games, and Forge, and this problem shouldn’t happen.
Once the ban lifts, keep that in mind, or this may or may not happen again.

First of all I would like to say that you don’t sound like a very good parent. I don’t know how you run your household but I would never let my children who are aged 3 and 10 play a mature rated video game. That being said:

You don’t seem to be letting this whole thing go which is honestly leading me to believe that either you are lying and you were actually banned for boosting and these children you speak of do not exist or if they do exist got your account banned accidentally and now you want the ban removed because it wasn’t your fault.

Regardless of this the ban will not be removed. It doesn’t matter who did it, when they did it or how they did it, the issue here is that it happened and you now have a history of either intentional or unintentional AFKing/Losing on your account that will be checked by Microsoft/343 to possibly remove the ban, due to you having these games on your account if they run anything like Bungie you will receive another two week ban for wasting their time.

I’ve had to personally stop playing Reach for a few days because of problems like this. If your children/you cannot play the game correctly, I don’t care what your rights as a human are don’t let them play online.
I cannot tell you how often I get paired up with completely useless teammates. I do not need the extra baggage while trying to play a game. Put them on Customs/Firefight. That way you/your kids won’t get banned and the rest of the community won’t have teammates like the way you have described. I don’t want betrayers/idiots who drive off the edge of the map on my team.

It makes no difference to me how you see me, I’m not trying to flame you, I am giving you my honest opinion. If you let your kids play a game like Halo that is filled with all sorts of people and online at their age, you are a bad parent. Period.

Eh… so much for me trying to lay it down nicely without being disrespectful…

Dude let your kids play if they want. I was ten once and i played video games all the time. Some i wasgood at some i was bad at, but XBL didnt exist. Online gaming cannt change who gets to play the game. Yeah Reach is rated M, but ESRB doesnt rate online interactions and the game isnt really that violent. Harsh language in a game along with blood allways cranks up the rating to M. If this was GTA then be differnt story but its Halo. Let the kids play. Yeah we all hate bad palyers and kids who cant play, doesnt give us the right to say who can and cant play however.

Point. Set. Match.

This is why my kids play living dead. No teammates, no problems!

If you are going to let your kids play online, PLEASE keep them out of Big Team Battle. This IS a competitive game type and I REALLY don’t want to play with 3 year old children who are betraying me and my teammates. Let alone driving our vehicles off of the cliff side. BTB is just as important as Arena, Doubles, or slayer.

You might want to get games more suitable for their age level, like Kinectimals. Honestly, a 3 year old shouldn’t be playing games like this. Not because of the content, but because his brain isn’t developed enough to even understand what to do, or what is going on.
