This is my first post on this forum. But, I’ve been a fan of Halo since the first one came out way back when. I’ve been a Bungie “fanboy”, if you’d like to degrade loving a company, since I’d say 2005, shortly after Halo 2. I’ve played, and continue to play Halo 3 and Reach. I’m having my 5th annual Halo LAN party with my comrades this August. Résumé aside, let’s get to the subject.
So you’re making a new Trilogy. Congratulations. Partly not needed because the story is wrapped up. Partly needed for my Halo -Yoink!-, which is why I’m posting. Just stating the kind of obvious here, 343 is somewhat under control of Microsoft. I don’t enjoy bashing Microsoft, but they can be money grubbers from time to time. I basically want to know; is this going to turn into Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed? i.e. Releasing unnecessary amounts of DLC, releasing a sequel every year right before Christmas, barely changing anything. Because if it is, I will be deeply disappointed. Please, take time in between games, get the community involved in this game again. I love these games, countless hours have been spent on them.
Also. Don’t name it Halo 4. If you can. I don’t know what you’d name it, but 4 is an odd looking, and off-putting number.
TL;DR
Take time and pride with these games, don’t make it like Call of Duty, rename it.
/unorganized, “I have feels for this game”, rant.
Welcome to waypoint!
Also read up dude, we’re in good hands, kinda like Allstate…
Trust me, 343i knows what they’re doing. Each game won’t be a recycled form of the one before it, and they put all they’ve got into a game. No need to worry
welcome to the forums!
as for halo becoming another CoD, well even though I can’t see into the future or anything I have to say its very doubtful. halo might turn into another CoD and start making loads of sales but the idea that they would release a game thats 95% the same as the previous one was (like CoD) is not going to happen. halo 4 is taking enormous (and somewhat unnecessary) risks that they’ve never done in a halo game before, so the idea that they would start making a game every year and such is highly unlikely given what they’re doing with halo 4 now.

This
Halo is in good hands!
343 isn’t planning on milking the Halo series with rehashes that kill everyone’s interest in the series. I believe Frank O Connor said that 343 did not plan on over satirizing the gaming market with Halo games.
So no, Halo isn’t going the way of COD. Each game WILL be fresh and not recycled. I think we will be fine and that the series will maintain it’s uniqueness and trademark quality of AAA entertainment.

So far 343i is shaping up to be a good developer. But this is also 343i’s first major game, we wont truly know about rather or not 343i is going to be doing the every year, or otherwise. most of us are hoping they avoid the every year release, it’s a good way to kill a game like Halo. And I don’t think 343i is going to release Halo every year, I think they want to stretch out the trilogy a full 10 years like the last.
As for unnecessary amounts of DLC, they’re doing the MP map packs like they normally do, and now they’re also doing weekly campaign DLC, or Spartan OPs, each week 5 missions, which isn’t a bad idea, as long as they’re not crap, but as good as the main campaign.
I don’t understand. You stated you love Halo, how could you let it end on a cliffhanger?
So much left. The universe so deep. So much unanswered.
Why would you want it to end with 3?

I don’t think the OP wants halo to end with 3, I think he wants them to explore different aspects of the universe not just a continuation of the same story and such.
Don’t worry. The game company decides when they want to release anything. Besides, Halo games have a bit too much stuff to make to even release it year after year. -Yoink!- does control the DLC prices, which kinda sucks (Mythic Map Pack 2 for Halo 3 isn’t even free yet).
They also cut spending on Halo Wars. It looked so damn awesome in the earlier builds…
I don’t think microsoft is as greedy as activision or EA, so I wouldn’t expect annual releases.
Welcome to facebo…I mean Waypoint.

^^What He said
Nope, everything will be fine and dandy. We won’t have recycled games, and DLC will be worth it.
Don’t worry man, 343 will not screw up, we have to trust them. Bungie did, so should we.
4 is a very symbolic number. I don’t see what’s wrong with it.
Besides, Halo games that are followed by a word instead of number have a reputation of being lackluster in gameplay and/or story (ODST, Reach).

ever heard of halo: combat evolved?
you could say that the naming affects the sales but thats about it.
