Like most of us I’ve been playing halo since 2001. I’ve enjoyed all the campaigns, books everything halo. But it wasn’t until halo 4 that I realized something. Halo 4 and halo 5 their campaigns. They are missing something. A certain “spark” if you will. I remember playing halo CE over and over again. Halo 2 over and over again. Halo 3 over and over again. Halo 4 and halo 5 didn’t have that spark. I feel like campaigns were put together quickly. I feel like 343 industries haven’t focused enough on the campaigns. Now don’t get me wrong I’m grateful that 343 industries took up the job to continue the franchise. I feel like they concentrate on multiplayer more than they do campaign. As a serious halo nerd, buff, whatever you want to call me. I feel like they need to concentrate more on the campaign and less on multiplayer. Give halo that spark that missing piece of the puzzle that made halo…well halo. Right now I feel like 343 is just milking the cash cow making games that they know will sell because they know the lifelong fans will buy it. I’d hate to see the game that defined my childhood turn into a laughing stock. I know I’m not the only one here. So please tell me what you think that spark is. What’s your opinion? And what should they do to the campaign to give halo its spark back.
I think that the story just got a whole lot darker, halo 1 till 3 was still a bit just run and gun through the covenant and flood forces. In halo 4 you actually see people have their skin molten off their faces etc.
I know what you mean, for me I think its just cause I’m getting older so less involved into these games
I literally played Halo 1 hundreds of times. It got to the point where my cousin and I could run all the missions on legendary co-op in 1 day (don’t ask!).
I do agree with what you said about Halo 4. I played the campaign twice and never went back in. I’m still working through H5 so I can’t comment on it’s replay value just yet.
My Xbox one comes in this weekend. I’ll let you know how I feel once I’m done with it.
they should focus on both equally. One thing that made Halo so special for me was that it is strong in multiplayer AND campaign. I liked the Halo 4 campaign and the story behind it (I felt like the story was more complex than in the predecessors,I liked that). But I was missing a bit of the Epicness, now in Halo 5 I really love the gameplay, it’s much faster and you have more ways to do what you have to do… Only the story is a bit disappointing, it does not drive the whole thing forward. It’s a short story about a small event in the big universe.
I haven’t got the feeling in the later halo campaign that it’s a huge epic battle like when you drive the scorpion or hornet in halo 3. That is what I think the later halos miss.
