Something's changed about Halo

I know this may sound like a weird thing to complain about but towards the end of my Halo 4 career I was got really good. I would nearly always finish at the top of my team, it wouldn’t be uncommon for me to get 15 or 20 + plus kills and maybe two deaths at most.
Compare that to Halo 3 and Reach were I was always quite terrible. I don’t know the k/d of the top of my head but I know you would probably laugh at it. But the thing is I had far more fun on the older Halos than I did with 4 despite being far better at it. Basically my concern is that Halo 5 is going the same direction as Halo 4(too easy). Just to be clear I’m still excited for Halo 5, I’d just like if somethings changed.

Tl,dr: Halo has gotten far less challenging and has lost quite a bit of the fun factor because of it.

P.S. I played the Halo 5 beta.

Sorry for the long post.

Or… You just got better.

Nah I’ve played both Halo 3 and Reach recently and I’m still pretty bad.

It’s not really a secret that video games have gotten a lot easier.

I’m really good at CE, a pretty solid Halo 4 & Reach player, decent at Halo 2, and mediocre at Halo 3. In that order. So I think some of it depends on how you play and which game’s mechanics are best suited for you.

For a while it felt like each game was getting harder: CE being my best, then Halo 2 being much harder, and Halo 3 being my worst. But then it started getting easier again with Reach and Halo 4.

Hmm, looking at your service record, you had about a .8 KD for Reach, a 1.2 for 4, and now a 1.0 for MCC. 3 is missing.
Looks kind of like a mix of both. You got a bit better, and 4 was a bit easier. I experienced a similar effect. I wouldn’t worry about 5, though. Whilst I have no idea about the current state of bullet mag, auto aim is way down, and ordnance is gone in Arena.

You do understand that you’re playing with the same community, yes? The game matches you with players of the same skill, and averaging around 10 - 15 kills is essentially just that ― average. You’re basically complaining because you’re not bad at Halo. And no offence, but based on your Service Record, it wasn’t all that easy.

halo 5 aiming is harder than recent halo games, though the mechanics off spawn make most players off spawn defensive and it’s easy because of the lack of resistance from players opting to run because they can. halo 4 was snowbally. halo games before that weren’t tough if you were good, just the minimal starting options forced the player to use what’s on the map for advantage, that really separated skill levels apart.

Oh yeah definitely. Halo 4 is a much more “casual” game. And I don’t mean that in an insulting way. Its just that whenever I play a match of H4, I find that my awareness of the game doesn’t need to be that high for me to perform well. I often go through matches not even paying attention to the score. The matches just kind of… happen. That’s nice and all, as everyone needs a little casual gameplay every now and then. But it just isn’t as competitive as some of the games before it. There isn’t nearly as much intensity, ya know?

I most definitely find halo 4 the easiest multiplayer of all halo’s, however I thought halo 5 felt different??

If anything it’s skill level improving using the skills you have in the game. In Halo 4 you have loadouts and the drops and perks and stuff to help you. You are obviously good at utilizing those if you stomp while playing Halo 4. Halo 3 and Reach don’t have either so you may not be as used to not having those specific skill. That could be why you’re not as good. I have the same problem, on Combat Evolved PC I wreck, my best was 32/4, but once I grab a controller I’m dead unless I can tune the settings. I still do good on console but it takes getting used to for me. That’s all you need to do, get used to Halo 3 and Reach.

I wasn’t very good at halo 4 I found that I would always just die too quick, no matter wether I got the first shot in or not.
now that I’m playing the mcc I have undoubtedly gotten better despite the lag and bullets/shots not registering

That really doesn’t prove anything. Unless halo 4 was your first halo. I would assume that your KD was worse in previous titles because you were new to the series.
My KD in 3 and reach wasn’t as good as mine in halo 4 was. But then again by the time halo 4 rolled out I had plenty of halo experience and plenty of FPS experience under my belt.

Halo 3 and Reach (much) more competitive than Halo 4, people usually consider this fun. Halo 5 will see this competitively return.

I agree, I think halo has become much more easy and simple and I think that its been done on purpose to bring in new players.

I had a different gamertag for Halo 3 which I got locked out off so I had to make a new account. And for Reach(and for 4 for a while) I shared my account with my brother who is pretty bad at the game(although even he was better at 4). I know it sounds weird to complain about being good at the game(or at least better) but whenever I was killed in the older Halo’s I was never annoyed because I knew the other player was just better than me, in Halo 4 a lot of the time I felt it was because the game was easier.

I played a lot of Halo and I never considered 15+ kills to be average. The best I’ve ever done In any Halo game was 30 kills(maybe more?) and 1 death. And I was very proud of that. And like I said before I shared my account with my little brother for a good while which probably skewed the k/d(especially for 4), and no offence taken.

I wouldn’t say Halo 4 being easier is the problem. If Halo 4 was simply easier then the people who are better then you would also be having an easier time and there for your score ratio shouldn’t change much.

some reasons for this change could be that; you got better in general, you are better at Halo 4 specifically, you are being matched up with less skilled players.

Personally i’m worst at CE. and while I did better in Reach and H4 then I did in H3 I suspect a lot of that is to do with 7 more years of experience.

Weapons appear to have the tightest spread of any Halo game, but also looks like Halo 5 will low aim assist and magnetism.

in 343’s games, precision weapons are far more accurate and automatics are stronger. That may be the reason why.
