Something we haven't seen

So right after the beta ended the one thing I wanted to see in action was forge. We have yet to see it and I was wondering if forge would be like:

  • Halo 4 - Halo 2 Anniversary - Something newThough forge has been rather iterative instead of innovative in its growth I have high hopes for Halo 5 since “With the power of Xbox” we can do a lot more then before. My hope is that forge is both complex yet simple. Seeing what can be done with H2As forge mode has me excited, though I do want more “environments” in the forge pallet.
So here’s to hoping we see forge soon!

If they had something really awesome in store for Forge they probably would’ve revealed it by now. In all likelihood it’ll just be a slight upgrade to H2A’s Forge. I hope I’m wrong.

Also, the new DOOM’s map creator just completely and utterly destroys Forge. So, yeah.

We’ll have to see what they have in store for Forge. As for DOOM’s map creator, I’d hope it would be more extensive than Forge, seeing as that’s arguably the best thing going for the whole game right now.

Yeah, DOOM map creator does have great potential. I wonder about the whole if it hasn’t been shown yet there isn’t anything special though. It could be any number of things, really.
I am very hopeful that Halo 5s forge is forge 3.0 rather then forge 2.5. Considering the supposed scale of Halo 5, this should be another thing that gets that treatment.

Halo 5 is supposed to be the breaking point of forge since 343 now has more flexibility then they did in MCC or halo 4. Halo 4’s forge they were given mostly assets that consisted of Halo Reach and had to go off of that. While in MCC they had to stick to content that was creative but also old school considering it was all off of 4 different games they have already made (bungie/343i)

Halo 5 is probably going to have the best forge to date not just because of the new technology they have with their new gen engine to expierement with, but if you saw in Halo MCC they kept foliage a thing since Halo 4 along with new terrain blocks and coding blocks. These are just basic new additions that we can see expanded in Halo 5, Imagine being able to code explosions or making a mini campaign mission for your friends in forge all off of preset blocks that you can place. You’ll be making your own Halo game if not in Halo 5 then very soon.

In all likelihood, H2A’s forge was probably a test for a very similar but upgraded Forge that will appear in Halo 5.

Exactly. With the switches and toggles and everything. I loved those!

I was interested in the Doom map creator, but not doom itself. Being able to create rooms looks pretty good. Maybe Halo 6 will bring something about. But honestly I’m not a forger, I just enjoyed playing on the forged maps.

I’m both excited and afraid to see Halo 5’s Forge. The general direction of Halo 5 is a lot closer to that of other modern FPS’s now with it’s heavy focus on multiplayer all around.

Campaign looks like it will be epic regardless but Forge is still all up in the air.

I expect a reveal at Gamescom at the very latest. We’ll see how that turns out.

Honestly my only gripe with H2A’s forge was the amount of lag that persisted after a certain item limit was reached. Although I was never a huge map maker I was always excited to find cool and creative maps and show them off to my friends in both Halo 3 and Halo Reach, even though I hated Reach I still played it for some time.

The only thing I really can’t see making it into Halo ever is the ability to essentially go into zbrush and craft terrain out of raw polies.

Going by that video alone, I’m not really sure what more it can do that forge + custom settings can’t.

Well, other than snap a bunch of gloomy dark interior spaces together.

But that’s what I’m saying. I highly doubt that they have anything spectacular for Forge because they haven’t made any mention of it at all to my knowledge, and I’ve been watching for any and all H5 news very, very closely.

The time for big reveals is coming to a close. If they had any amazing plans for Forge they would have said something already, especially since 343i is still on shaky ground right now, and a great Forge mode would net them some serious brownie points with Halo fans and the Forge community in particular.

I’m just expecting Forge to be like H2A. It would suck to not get an huge improvements but at least it’s not really that bad.

Did Halo 3 have a huge Forge reveal or a teaser? I thought Bungie was silent about it until people found out about the mode after they bought the game.

Placeable AI.

Lighting, atmospheric effects, placeable AI, proper gametype scripting(think megalo but available to everybody) and from the looks of it copy/paste functions.

Forge would dominate with these features.

I’m getting some serious rheumatic fever keeping my fingers crossed for something like this in Forge.
