Something to try if you're frustrated with BattlePass/ Challenges/ Events

Hello! Long time Halo fan here!

There’s a lot of passionate voices surrounding Halo Infinite right now. I can see the merit/ agree with a lot of people, but something struck me yesterday and it’s kind of made Halo Infinite much more enjoyable.

Just to preface - I’m not advocating anyone stop feeding back their POV with regards the issues Halo Infinite has right now - I’m here to hopefully give a bit of a reprieve from the frustration.

And that reprieve is simple: Ignore the challenges/ BP.

Many people like collecting unlocks and that’s ok. The BP is 6 months long, meaning you’ll complete it playing casually. And for me - Last Spartan Standing is my least favourite gametype I think Halo has ever put out. Playing it isn’t fun. So why was I? “because I need to do the challenegs/ event to unlock the stuff!” But then I thought about the rewards. “Do I like them enough to go through this?”, “Will I use them”, “Many other people will use them, meaning they aren’t unique so I probably would try to use something else”.

And with that - I stopped playing the event, stopped paying attention to the challenges and my enjoyment skyrocketed! I could play how I wanted, in the gametypes I wanted and there was no FOMO/ pressure anymore. It was amazing. I highly recommend it.

Again - not saying people are wrong with their opinions about the whole system. I do agree. But I’m not going to drag myself through something I don’t enjoy for a reward i’m not going to use.

Stay strong Spartans!

What a radical idea. Imagine, playing as you want; playing to have fun. How novel. How absurd.

I am actually enjoying the new mode. It took a game or two before I clicked into a rhythm with it. So now I’m just playing it for the fun. If I should complete the Interference event as I go, that’s just convenient. But I’m really playing for the mode rn.

Many already do, but would like to have enjoyable, challenges they can complete to get a sense of progress, without getting herded into specific modes they dislike.

And I played a little King of the Hill, had a not so good time with disappearing grenades, rubber bullets, and getting lop-sided matches by being matched against far more skilled players.

Then I played Valheim for a bit, then Metal Fatigue.

Kinda hard to do when its the only means to gain any form of progression to get something, including the daily challenge xps, its not a fun system and even when you try to just play chill its like a shadow that cannot leave.

I did, but then desync, lag, damage inconsistency, lack of players, weapons that stop shooting without a reason, audio problems, and the tale goes on and on…

Agree with what the OP is saying, all makes sense. But on the other side this game has a very poor progression system anyway, the BP and weekly rewards are all there is to make it feel like a rewarding experience. With that in mind 343 need to be made well aware of how alienating their challenge system is when players who play every day would be unable to complete it without suffering through an unenjoyable experience

And just to be clear. 343, I will literally never spend my money on challenge swaps, out of principal. So if you are holding out to frustrate me into buying them I just won’t.
