Hey guys, I’ve been reading through the forums and have noticed people calling Halo 5 “perfect” or “the best Halo game in the series”. While I haven’t been able to play enough to formulate a solid opinion about the game, I just have something to think about for those who have been saying this. I believe these opinions are solely being formed because of hype or the recency and newness of this beta. Obviously many of these comments are probably over-exaggerated to a certain extent, but from my experience, I can tell you certain betas have had the same effect on me.
I’ll start off with a beta many of us probably played, the Halo: Reach Beta received from owning Halo 3: ODST. I remember there being a lot of hype surrounding this beta and overall when I finally got in to play, I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer experience. My friends and I were so blown away by the new graphics and features that we had completely overlooked some major flaws that surfaced in the final product. Armor lock, bloom, etc., all of these things that we thought were cool new additions to Halo turned out to be horrible and unbalanced when we played the finished game. Hence, one of my most anticipated games ever turned out to be very average in my and many other peoples eyes, although I do understand if you still like it, especially after the title update.
Next, we move onto Halo 4. Although this game didn’t have a public beta, I was able to get into a closed beta through one of my friends a few months before release. I remember my first game I had gotten a Rampage on Adrift against a bunch of garbage Xbox employees and was happy to see that the game had been balanced much better than Halo: Reach…or so I thought. I wasn’t able to play this one as much but still hyped it up to all my friends who didn’t have the opportunity to play because I thought it was the true sequel to Halo 3. After release was a different story, I hated Halo 4 (people may disagree). This was by far my least favorite Halo and my disappointment was only highlighted by the excitement I had from my small sneak peak.
So what am I getting at? Well, this is a beta, it is released for us to give feedback in order to make the final product much better. Those who are saying that it is “perfect” are not helping the cause because there are probably an abundance of problems in the game for the sole reason that it is a beta and it isn’t finished. I am reserving my judgment until the full game but in the mean time I am having some fun with the beta while also discovering the many flaws this game has. Please do not be blinded by the “new toy” aspect of the game because we will never know the true potential of it until we have played all the maps with all the guns and all the game types numerous times. So while playing I advise everyone to look ahead for problems that could arise in the full game with things like certain guns or abilities that might never be seen in the limited amount of content we have been given in the beta. Anyway, tell me what you think and keep testing the game because if there is one thing we can all agree on in this community, it’s that we all want this game to be good.
