We all know music changes when you’re the last man standing, right?
Well I’ve heard the music; it doesn’t quite fit with the theme of being chased down by vicious Flood-Spartan forms that are trying to kill and infect you, does it? It sounds… standard.
While I do love the feature, and think even with it sounding “standard” that it does enhance the game. However, I think something a bit more terrifying would make it even more thrill-inducing. Maybe something similar to the string-instrument screeching sound you hear during a tense moment in a horror movie; something like that creeps in soon as you’re the last man standing, rising to a crescendo, and then some “person is running from a bad guy in the movies” music starts.
After that, as any Flood form is nearing your position, the music gets louder and louder! And every time you have an encounter with one (i.e. it lunges at you, or you shoot one down), you hear another musical cue; like another loud “da daahh!” type sound like you hear in horror movies just when someone spins around and gets freaked out or something like that (it’s hard to describe; work with me, here lol).
In essence, it would feel and sound a lot like when you met the Flood for the first time in Halo: CE when you’re in that room and the spores are bursting through the doors/walls and racing towards you; that cutscene when it happens the first time, the dramatic music and sounds that happen… something like that!
I think that would be amazing and would definitely not only make it more thrilling, but also further distinguish Flood mode as it’s own unique game-type.
What does everyone think, and what other ideas do you think would make the game type more fun, exciting, or thrilling?
haha that would. Also, if you can customize the weapon on the flood form. Like if instead of a sword, they could be like a pure form and shoot spikes instead of the claw. I think that would be cool. I’d really like to see 343 build on this flood gametype for the future Halo games, it’s really cool.
It’s a great idea but to be honest with you I like how multiplayer has no background music. I know Halo 4 multiplayer now has some music but that’s going to be the first thing I switch off in the settings.
Bring in the weird, creepy Flood music from the level The Library in Halo CE. That music alone, in any situation I would instantly associate that with the Flood.
Would also be good if the flood characters actually made those same guttural slurs and growls like the have always done in campaign.
It’s a shame that the Flood Spartan has that weird club like sword arm and not a traditional whip that Combat Forms usually have. It’s still good looking, but I do think the whip would have been cooler.
Last night I saw someone had an idea for a “Flood Grenade” which would explode into a small swarm of flood infection forms (i.e. popcorn flood) upon impact. The infection forms would seek out and infect players or latch onto them for continuous damage.
In my opinion it’s the only way you could properly incorporate a grenade into Flood Mode (other than for humans) and one of the only logical ways you could widen the Flood team’s arsenal. And while it would have been awesome to see something like this, I’m not sure if it would be worth the time and effort for what might be considered a minor game mode.
And I’ve gotta agree that some last man standing music is practically a necessity. It’s too awesome of an idea to pass up.

> This. That’d be epic.
Would love it if this did happen, but it doesn’t look like 343i is going to be using any of Marty’s music in future titles. Can’t blame them for wanting to step out of Bungie’s shadow though. If anything, Neil could do a successor to the track.
Scary music is nice but one thing that I dont understand is why there isnt a Scattershot loadout. I mean tha thing is a Promethian gun speciffically for fighting the flood! Plus seeing flood forms desintegrate would be so badass!

Very good point. Now that you mention it, I might actually prefer a separate Flood Mode gametype with stronger flood and Promethean weaponry since the scattershot might be a bit too powerful for regular flood.
