Something to Chew On...

Sorry for not linking, but I was daydreaming about Halo 4 (shocking, I know) and I remembered something that I think I heard in a Sparkcast or interview:

The Prometheans are, at one point within the game, going to be sided with the [Covenant?] (Not sure if we can really call them the Covenant).

I believe the point made with mentioning that was about the way that one Promethean enemy compliments another and such and that at one point, they team up and that that adds some interesting situations and strategies.

If someone could recall where this was mentioned, I would love you forever and give you a virtual cookie.

Discuss!!

I think it was mentioned in an interview…

But dear god! This is going to be more chaotic than anything!

UGHH jackal snipers and crawler snipers on legendary solo!!! What are they doing!!! I cant afford that many controllers 343i!!! lol This game is going to have so many twists its going to be awesome!! CANT WAIT

If any faction temporarily forges an alliance with UNSC forces, I hope that they aren’t severely nerfed to balance.

Flood that were allied with us on The Covenant barely demonstrated Flood capability. The Pure Forms rarely used their transformations and they chose the worst times to do it. The human combat forms came unarmed, UNARMED, to a party where everyone has guns. It’d been real badass to have rocket launcher Flood causing havoc here or to see an army of Tank Forms but nooooo, Bungie’s always been about difficulty so all they gave us was worthless Infection Forms (not that it matters since they’re infinitely spawning and will eventually overwhelm Covies a la Noble Team). It would have been epic to see Hunters on one of those bridges and to see a lot more freaking bodyguards. Instead, just 12 Brutes. That weren’t anything special (no Brute plasma rifle, no unique equipment, no new rank). Reaching Truth was so easy!

Who can remember those massive 2 way battles on Two Betrayals, Keyes, The Maw, High Charity? That was when the Flood wasn’t cannon fodder, when they weren’t downplayed to keep Chief in the spotlight. That was when they were a flood of carnage.

OT: Accessing the gravity of the situation will be overwhelming! :o

Bring it on 343! as long as there are plenty of options (not necessarily armor abilities) so I don’t have to suffer what I like to call ‘the Ranged phenomenon’ which is when I’m confined to a spot for half a hour due to an absurd number of SALRTC (super accurate long ranged terrain crawlers) and unable to flank or do anything other than retaliate and try to get long ranged stickies.

Thankfully, I recall 343 mentioning that Crawlers won’t be like Drones. And probably not like Ranged Forms.

Haha yeah, Solo Legendary is going to be ridiculous. I have a feeling that killing the Watcher quickly is going to be a critical part in many of those missions.

I’m also really interested to see how the different types of enemies perform compared to others. Is it a minor difference, to is it going to be severe?

The watcher will be a nuisance. It was either Frankie or David that said killing the watcher 1st would probably be the best thing to do.

I picked Chaos under the impression you meant this http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/8/83/Demons.JPG

That’s alright. I didn’t want to sleep anyways.

Factions throughout, the impression I have at the moment is everyone will split into good vs. evil. From the footage and screenshots it seems colours will keep things easily identifiable, just as Halo has always done.

I dont know about this, but i can see Promethean’s working with the humans later in the story or vice versa.

I think I know why this could be.

Assuming he was referring to the promethean combat AI’s, i think the reason they will side with covenant at some parts because what ever certain things the covies are doing the promethean AI’s probably detect that as non threatening or following a certain "protocol"if you will. For example parts in halo 1-3 mostly halo 2 and 3 if i remember correctly 343GS and the sentinels seen us as a non threat or as allies in a lot of parts but then seen us as enemies in other parts because we were doing things that was against protocol.

For example when we wanted to stop the halo ring from firing in halo 3 and put it on standby that was against the defensive protocol so 343GS seen us as a threat.

So basically everything the humans wanted to do on the halo array was against protocol. Where as what the covenant wanted to do it just so happens to be following the protocols and therefore does not pose a threat because the covenant and forerunners/343GS and others wanted to do the same thing but had to completely reason for doing it. I think the same situation will happen in halo 4 with the covenant and the promethean AI’s.

seeing as the Covenant worship Forerunner tech and believe the Forerunners to be Gods, I can’t see why the Ancient Evil wouldn’t use this to his advantage.

Yoink! is going to get Yoinking! crazy in the Campaing! O_O

Oh, yes. There will be crazy times to be had >:D

-Yoink- is about to go down. It will remind of that awkward but cool feeling I got when we temporarily sided with the gravemind.

It will be challenging to face them both, but cool to see them working together for a limited amount of time. Ancient evil is manipulating the storm covies.

> Ancient evil is manipulating the storm covies.

This is most likely.

Guilty Spark called Covies meddlers. It’d be unusual for lethal Promethean AI to acknowledge Covie activity.

I was thinking along these lines. You never know, though. Throughout the Halo series there have been some crazy plot twists. From the introduction of the Flood in the first Halo to fighting alongside the flood in the third… crazy shenanigans!
