Alright, cutting straight to the point. If they dont do Forerunner architecture correctly, than the game is just going to look like another generic sci-fi alien game. This CAN NOT HAPPEN. It is imperative that they get it correct! The old “withstand the test of time” appearance was NOT present in the one and only slide show of concept art we have seen. This is a Forerunner environment we are being thrown in, it HAS TO LOOK RIGHT!

honestly, it just sounded “generic sci-fi” in the concept art video we saw. The old Halo’s did not feel like that.
YOU MUST DO THIS CORRECTLY…ITS YOUR FIRST STEP OUT THE PROVERBIAL DOOR 343I.
I think they have already exemplified their skills with the forerunner theme in many of the anniversary maps; I am not worried and I think the concept art looks amazing.

I believe they had other people do the maps if I’m not mistaken.
Halo 4 is going to have fully operational forerunner structures. And unlike ANY other halo game, that’s a first.

This just means that it isnt going to be rusty like we have seen in the past. The over all general design needs to stay the same though.

not just forerunner but precursor. I really want halo 4 to fall in to their story. we know enough about the forerunners but we dont know much about the precursors
Eh… I want the structures to look completey different then in the previous Halo’s . I mean it’s a completely different setting : we should have drastically different structures.
Completely agree with you, OP. The only exception would be what you think of the concept art. It wasn’t that bad, seemed to look a lot like forerunner technology.
But i loved the concept art trailer music…
It comes off as somewhat petulant when you criticise something without offering suggestions as to how it could be improved. In doing so, you’ve placed the onus on other forum members, who now have to generate counter arguments in response.

So did I. People were complaining about the beeps and boops, the electronic Mass Effect type sounds, but I think they complement the Forrunner theme fabulously.
343 DID say that they wanted to bring back that alien feel of a new world from Combat Evolved, and the concept art music represents that PER-FECT-LY. It totally gives of an “alien world” vibe, with suspense. Sounds like Halo music to me. Besides, Halo 4 will be the start of a new trilogy. It’s supposed to switch things up and have a slightly different feel.
The concept art music wasn’t bad.

Basically, in a sense, there are too many wayward angles all over everything and curves that just do not reflect the Forerunners in any form. I will attempt to “draw” a different version of one of the most largely flawed structures I saw.

We’ve never seen a Forerunner city, especially an operational one, only inert outposts and such. The design for skyscrapers will naturally be different from listening posts.
And 343i designed the look of the maps, CA built them.

We’ve seen plenty of curved Forerunner structures similar to the ones shown in the concept art. From Halo 1 there were structures with curves.

Mass Effect 3 - Earth
Sounds like music that would fit the Forerunners…kind of.
