What ever happened to the phrase GG? The vast majority of gamers in general now are arrogant, ignorant people who have no sportsmanship qualities, and just play so that they may insult inferior players.
When I play Halo, I may not have the best K/D in the world (1.04, 57 BPR) but I nearly always finish top of my team/the game. However, I do not instantly start trashing my team-mates, or the opposition for their lack of ability, I compliment what they did achieve and offer to play again.
Whatever happened to being friendly?
After seeing how people are treating one another before Halo 4 has even be released, I honestly believe that manners, etiquette and punctuality are slowly god backwards towards medieval times… It saddens me.
This is not a rant against gamer play-styles, nor the Halo games themselves. I myself have enjoyed every Halo game since I was 5 with CE. This thread is meant for the discussion of the decline in gamer etiquette in recent years.
> Yeh it’s been like this for ages now bro, and with Halo 4 being aimed at more casual players it ain’t gonna change anytime soon.
This is not what I meant. We are all equal. Casual players play for a few games and go on to other things, Hardcore gamers play as a way of life almost.
One players preference is their own.
I myself like to believe I am hardcore, although to me it does not matter if I lose. As long as I have fun. Although, if a team mate really wants to win, I shall domy very best to make it happen.
I don’t use GG because I never get good games any more thanks to Reach’s MM system. The average TS match I get into is composed of me and 7 guys with a BPR of less than 10, I’m not going to say good game if it was absolutely awful as the game can’t match me with people of my skill level.

Yeh but I was saying with more casual players it is unlikely you will see much etiquette.
Pretty much every PC game, because it’s far easier to tap “g” twice on the keyboard and press enter then it is to get a mic and talk to people. Anyway, “GG” has lost its meaning anyway. It’s spammed way too much on PC games and saying “GG” when it wasn’t is just mockery. Though I’m assuming most of you weren’t around in the early days of online FPSs and just assume you’re meant to say “GG” after every game <>

I will admit that my first online PC game was CoD 4. I would love to play Tribes though but my PC is just not up to it. I may try Planetside 2 though.
I always assumed it was more of a PC gamer thing. I’ve been playing since Halo 2 and rarely receive messages saying “gg”. However, I do usually recieve messages saying “Bk scrub garbage kid!11” though.
I still send a GG message every now and then to those that don’t immediately leave after the game is finished. Halo: CE on the PC still has tons of players that say GG, the majority of those playing the game still use the phrase. I’m thinking that the in-game chat system that doesn’t use headsets may have something to do with that.
I still use the term “GG” after a game.
It’s not that people don’t say “GG”, its that people never talk in game chat. They are practically always in party chat. I’m fairly most people playing online (which are sadly kids around the age of 13) tend to try and avoid socializing with anyone besides their friends, or people that they already know. And then kids who aren’t in part chat, are just plain out raised badly. They constantly curse and use racist language, but there really isn’t anything you can do about it.

> No re.
I"m the kind of guy to send a Good Game message to anyone who isn’t a total -Yoink-.
I tend to always send a Good Game message to people who don’t leave even when their team mates quit. Whether they be on my team or not, hell I’ll even find a nice hiding spot and leave them alone to help even the odds.
