So the GI article said that the multiplayer has a story now and that that story basically involves Spartans performing training exercises on that huge ship. It said that it was some sort of Virtual Reality training or something of the sort but does anyone else find that kind of disappointing? I mean we will be playing a videogame (a simulation) of a training simulation. I would rather be actually killing other people online rather than knowing the spartans I’m killing are just getting right back up.
You might tell me I’m over-analyzing the whole thing (or that respawns meant that everyone was fine already)but it just seems to take something away from it for me when all you are doing is training. I’m sure there will be a reasonably large emphasis on the fact that it’s all training as well. Its likely that it will be highly indicated when you are spending your spartan points or whatever at the store.
Why does multiplayer need a story anyway? I know few games that take pride in giving multiplayer a story. They have objectives and other things of the sort but they rarely ever take it as a vital part of any story line directly involved with the rest of the game.
I don’t know…maybe it’s just me. What does anyone else think?
Was i supposed to find humor in this? The title of the thread suggests we’re supposed to find something that will make us lol.
Joking aside, i pretty much guessed the Spartan IVs wouldn’t be killing each other but rather utilize a training sim on board the UNSC Infinity. Which is a safe, yet cool idea to work around with.
Sure it isn’t the cliche “Reds side with Master Chief, Blues side with ONI” RVB ordeal for Halo 4’s MP but come to think of it, that actually might have been cool to do that too…
Though it isn’t necessary to have a story for MP. Some don’t care about that thing, just another gimmick to what should be just barebones MP.
However, since it’s not mandatory, the fact that’s being included is to me at least, something to admire. If from distance of course.

No Really I like the way 343 going about “Infinity” by tying a connective knot to multiplayer and campaign. Not many games really bother doing this and it may not be warrented but it can provide an actual reason in which fighting takes place. A good example is Assassin’s Creed multiplayer which revolves around templars training in the Animus which correlates directly into the main plot.
Overall, I hope it can add something unique to the campaign experience.
Stories have limitations. I cant be an Elite,i cant play grifball, no more sacks of action, multiteam makes no since anymore, all because of this story.
O no, my “fake” toon isn’t killing your “fake” toon, I want “real” avatars to kill each other…I’m both confused at how it makes a difference in a video game and astounded it even matters enough for someone to make a pole about it but whateva…
Its just a little thing they wanted to add. If you don’t like the idea of a training sim, don’t think of it that way. Its not like its been changed to feel like training.

Multi Team can still make sense…i am pretty sure there the “story” element of the MP suite doesn’t extend past the training sim backstory.
What’s to stop IVs from splitting up into five different colored teams? There’s nothing with the Halo 4 MP backstory that would prevent them from doing that.
Of course with the Elites…yeah it wouldn’t make sense i’ll give you that.
I kind of has to be a virtual reality simulator because if you were actually killing them, then re spawning would make no sense. So this is the only real story they could implement into the MP
