Something seems to be wrong with my aiming..

Okay. So this has been happening me since halo 5 came out, but only as I have started becoming more competitive has it become an issue.

I have always played video games on a TV, and until Halo 5, I have never had a problem. A month ago, I switched to a monitor after I found it to be really ridiculous. For the first day, there was a noticeable difference. In most games I played that day, it was very smooth, and felt amazing. Now, I’m noticing something really weird. I am getting this delayed feeling again. And it’s not only the aiming that is feeling delayed, it is the controls and player movement. But what’s even stranger, is that it doesn’t seem to affect FFA or BTB. Those two game types I have a responsive and fun experience, but every other game type there is a noticeable and annoying delay, and it’s making the game a real struggle to play. Does anyone know whats going on?

i play on a tv and it feels fine.

I play it on a plasma tv, which is arguably the worst for gaming. I have not experienced changes.

Well, It may work fine for you, but it doesn’t for me. Looking for some help.

Maybe because you’ve become more competitive you’ve started to nitpick problems you hadn’t seen before and because of this they’re magnified into a big deal.

Ive noticed the same thing you are noticing. But at one time the game was very smooth and responsive. If you look around on other sites you will find that others have mentioned the same thing also. So this really isn’t anything new. You will find on waypoint there is very little technical info on this. Other sites jump right in and say its the netcoding in the game of H5. But whatever it is it acts like a interference. Just out of curiosity who is your ISP?

try using the accessories app to calibrate your controller to your lag. i have the Elite and i had that issue at one point with my monitor until i re-calibrated my tv and controller. go through the accessories app on xbox, and the game, and your tv and just fine tune it. things should go back to normal

Yes, it does feel like netcode due to the fluctuation. I am in Australia with optus.

I have an Elite controller as well, are you able to tell me the exact setting you have it on so I can see if it makes a difference? Although, the fact that it does fluctuate makes it sound more like a connection thing. However, It’s worth a shot!

Maybe so, but the issue is quite prominent. There would be a lot more complaints if it was happening to everyone.

It’s probably your connection. OR your ISP.

Lag causes a slight delay. Check how many devices you got turned on and turn them off and if you’re real competitive… make sure the game is the only thing one. Forget about the wifi on your phones and netflix your kids, wife or parents are watching.

Either that or just upgrade your network. Might be because they took the region lock off… I think? Idk. Just speculation.

I would tinker with the app first due to the fact we may run different set ups. i dont want to have my settings cause an offset to your gameplay. just go through and mess with it a bit.

hahaha yep you can. play with the dead zones a bit too if you want.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I’ll be sure to give this all a try before I next play and get back to you!

Have you not been reading this forum, since the game came out? The are PLENTY of complaints about this. They keep giving us these band--Yoink!-, and the issue is the aim acceleration. This aiming is STILL not fixed and they REFUSE to change the aim acceleration. THIS is why I stopped playing the game. These developers are horrible…

Yes, however, my issue appears to be different than this. It is not a constant issue, like I said, a fluctuation. There are some games where I have no problem and feel fine, yet, there are others where there is a noticeable 10ms delay.

It’s not you, it’s them. One match I can nail perfect kills and wreck (well, as much as a Gold can wreck), then the next match my aim feels weird and I can’t hit anything or kill anyone. When you shoot an enemy and their shields don’t light up, you think your aim is off. Sometimes it is, but often your shots just aren’t registering for whatever reason.

Deary me… They need to address this if that’s the case. There are enough problems already…

Honestly I’m blaming the aiming mechanics of this game and not entirely my skill level. I have no clue how people manage to do non scoped long range firefights with a BR while I struggle to keep the reticle on target. I haven’t managed to find a happy medium with the new aiming adjust options either.

I always have problems with my controller not being responsive. I pull the trigger and it doesn’t instantly shoot.
