Something must be done about Escape from ARC!

I just finished fighting WZFF on Escape from ARC and am extremely disappointed that the changes that were asked for were not implemented in the update. Overall I am very excited and pleased with the new update, but myself and many other players are upset about the Legendary (original) playlist for this map. The first two objectives are evenly balanced, lots of fun, and lots of chances to get points. But the third objective with the recon pilots (or banshee raiders in some cases) is way too OP and very little chance to score points. But where myself and the other players in the map lost it was the fourth objective. All of us lost at least one or two very good REQs, level 5 and above, because of the elite gunners on the phantoms. They are a) invincible, b) extremely accurate, c) have very long range, d) inflict massive damage, e) have damn near full 360 view of the battlefield. Once they lock on to you, you’re dead unless you make it halfway across the map into a tunnel. It’s completely unfair that we can’t even defend ourselves while we’re in rare and expensive REQs.

If the only thing that was changed was that we could kill the elite gunners on the phantoms then most of us agreed that would make us perfectly happy campers. Overall I’m very pleased with Halo 5, have been playing for months and it has only gotten better over time. But this one particular issue was so bad we decided that someone should bring it up.

Use Plasma Pistols for the air bosses. It’ll flip and the pilot will get out with weaker health.

I couldn’t agree more, those phantom gunners are incredibly annoying. I don’t see how it could hurt to at least make them killable.

Thankfully the issue seems confined to this one objective, I just wanted to bring it up as nobody else seems to have.

did they fix the garage defense? cuz for some reason, ARC’s garage defense objective is too unbalanced.

They nerfed its fire rate and projectile speed, its better than before. Should be using vehicles at this point.

We got the Needler Warthog. Why not a Plasma Warthog so we can take down these air vehicles. Is the Gauss Warthog an equivalent to this? I don’t know since I haven’t used one yet.

Agreed. One of my first encounters with an invincible Phantom gunner was having a perfectly good Scorpion destroyed by one of them, while I tried in vain to keep hammering him with it’s cannon, and he wouldn’t die.

He’s referring to the Phantom bosses in general, not just your issue. (It was boldly put.)

However, at Round 3 you should have Level 3 REQ’s. This is enough to get an ONI Hog or any standard hog, a Chaingun turret, Plasma Pistols. Etc, all of these work efficiently against aircraft.
However this is not as bad as Apex 7’s, if you don’t get the “kill this many targets” objective, and round 3 comes… Most of the time you’ll have level 2 REQ’s, maybe someone will have Level 3 REQ’s, and you’re going to have Ghost Jockey’s, 2 Legendary Warden’s, etc.

Everyone should have at least level 2 reqs at the start of round 2 and bump to three well before round 3 starts.

Personally, I would love it if the Phantom and other troop carrier guns could be destroyed like in campaign (not very canon, if you ask me), but I think it would also be great if the vehicles themselves were not invincible. Imagine if the entire ship could also be destroyed (but very difficult), for an extra bonus; now that would be awesome.

I never had problems with them? Then again the odd times I run firefight is with at least 2 others cause god knows randoms will be the end of me. But yea only problem I ever had was the grunt mech at wave 5 but we figured out how to dispose of him

I know that it wasn’t his only issue, but he talks about the Recon Pilots and Banshee Raiders being OP. The Plasma Pistol helps a lot and makes it very easy. (And also REQ Level 3) As for the Phantom, just make it destroy-able like 3 and Reach. And for the Ghost Jockeys, Hardlight Loadout Weapons do more damage to vehicles.

The Phantom is destroyable in Halo 5, just not the gunner’s. It’s a really choppy destruction, as you can tell nobody really put in an effort to work on it. It just sorta… Disappears.
And yes, Promethean weapons and Promethean tipped weapons are good against vehicles. It’s part of the sequence.

Plasma destroys shields, Human destroys health, and Hard-light destroys vehicles.
