I’ve only been banned once and it was also when I had signed on. I think when the conditions for a ban are met, it doesn’t necessarily immediately ban you. For example if I just rage quit, and I’m so mad I don’t even want to play anymore that night, well I might have a ban waiting for me the next time I log in, even if it is a few days later.
Not necessarily what happened to your friend, but a possibility. As far as threads about people being banned, I do typically notice people pretending like they have no clue why they were banned. Plenty of people make the “Hey I was unfairly banned!” threads who were in fact fairly banned and are just lying to themselves. No hate to those who are ACTUALLY unfairly banned, but they appear to be in the minority.

Seeing as many bans result from the server analyzing post-game stats over the course of several matches, that makes sense.

I do think there are some discrepancies when it comes to banning. I’ve never been banned before, or even warned for that matter, but a friend of mine has been warned on a few occasions because his connection kept disconnecting during some games.
I think that if people get banned, they should at least get a message stating what they are EXACTLY being banned for. It would also be helpful if the message could state the exact game in the player’s history where they committed the offense that got them banned. If there was a mistake in the process, then it would be alot easier to identify and fix, so that a person isnt punished for a mistake made by an automated system.
That could be true, but seriously my buddy is a Honest Abe. He’s like 40+ in years, he has no idea what being banned is or why it happens. IDK, he’s still playing anyway. I think he was playing with some boosters and got hit for their shenanigans.
maybe so, alot of the times it’s the good guys that get nailed with the punishment, and the bad guys get of easy. Hopefully things will get straightened out in the end though, thats for sure.

Has he recently played several Firefight or Slayer matches in which he got 0 kills? This includes matches where he quit or lagged out before he had a chance to get kills.
If so, then he’s one of the false-positives caught by the banhammer’s AFK guesswork detection.
If not, then I’ve no idea.

If your friend got banned, it was for a reason. Either he did something wrong, or the banhammer thought he did. There’s not much you can do but wait it out.
