Ok so I was playing a skirmish and I attacked the enemy base with a glob of hornets, a few marines, and a hog. and they unlocked their base and hunters came out. So I thought “Hunters, no problem they will kill my ground troops and then I can make more hornets.” Then they killed my ground troops, then they started firing at my hornets. And I thought something was wrong, because never, ever in the history of time have hunters been able to kill air (in Halo Wars of course).
So my point s what the hell s wrong with 343 for doing this. And yes this is the one thing that has gotten me pissed off. This is just absolute bs.
The WolfPack
I don’t think hunters should be able to attack air. The next time you see hunters attacking your hornets, try flying them out of your enemies vision and then going back in again. Based on my experience, it seems that when hunters finish off all ground units and there are air units, they will immediately attack air units if left alone. I believe this to be a bug, but it should be fixed by flying out and then in again.

It has to do with the auto targeting from the original version of the game. Works best with assault beam researched.

Correction: at no point in the Hunter’s upgrade path are they able to attack air units. Or should be able to, that is.

That’s not exactly true, both cobras and hunters can hit pelicans.

Why I said “should.” They can hit pelicans, but they shouldn’t be able to. It makes no sense to not let them attack hornets, but let them attack pelicans. So I presume it’s a glitch.

But the ground units are in the air. It makes no sense that they can’t hit air units, but they can hit flying ground units.

Well I do know what I saw. I did record it too to prove it. But from what I’m hearing I am starting to think it was just a glitch. I am playing the campiagn, so I’ll post if it happens again.
It is true that the only exception to units being able to attack air when they normally can’t is when the unit is being transported by pelican. When pelicans are being shot at, unless the attack is anti-air, the unit actually being attacked are the units being carried.
