One of the things I’m quite concerned about with Halo 4 is how well the FPS will hold up under decent graphical pressure. I just played a few games of Reach and I noticed decent framerate drop within several instances. When multiple explosions are going off in an area, you can tell that the framerate drops to somewhere in the low 20’s or high teens. Also, within Firefight, the framerate seems to spike radically when multiple people are using rockets and fuel rod cannon. When the framerate drops in Firefight, it seems to go extremely low to under 15 frames a second which causes gameplay issues. I can’t perform well under those conditions because the screen is constantly freezing up.
So a big concern I have is how well with Halo 4 hold up with updated graphics? Supposedly it will be natively 720p, which is slightly higher than Reach’s native resolution and that alone will cause significant pressure on the framerate. If they are pushing the Xbox 360 to it’s limits just as I heard Kiki Wolfkill say an in interview I believe, then are we going to have to suffer through frequent framerate drops? I would hate to be playing a game where if 3-4 grenades go off relatively within the same time frame, the screen locks up due to the framerate.
I don’t think we’ll have to worry. They wouldn’t ship a game were the frame-rate drops drastically from minimal explosions. 343i may be new but they aren’t stupid.

They’re not new either. Every team member was hand-picked and therefore has impressed with previous experience.

New in the sense of this being their first game made entirely by them.

Well yes, but there’s still plenty of time before those games come out.

To be honest, I’m a little upset about how often the framerate drops to an “annoying” level in Halo: Reach. I really hope that even though Halo 4 looks to have even better graphics, that they somehow ship the game with noticeably less drops than Halo: Reach had.
I think the engine they’re using is probably one of the most advanced out there. They’re being funded by Microsoft, after all. I’m sure they can get the best technology available made for their crown jewel.
With how fluid the animations looked in the first look, I’m even going to assume this is running at 60fps, but I could be very, very wrong.

I think it’s already confirmed that it’s running at 30 fps. I could be wrong though…

It has been confirmed to run at 30FPS, which is perfectly fine except for the fact that if the framerate does lower, then we are hitting low 20’s or in the teens which makes the drop very noticeable to the human eye and could potentially cause problems if you’re in the middle of shooting someone.
