Something I wish 343 would add...

Remember Halo 2 (for those who played)? Remember, when playing on Terminal, you’d be splattered by a train if you didn’t look before crossing? Or on Zanzibar, the rush to activate the switch and get vehicles in the base?

These were some things that affected gameplay, and were some of the cool things that gave Halo 2 multiplayer maps flair and the desire to keep playing.

Sadly, in Halo 3, it was reduced drastically, with only one case being evident - the reduced in scale gates on Last Resort. Which were useless.

And then in Reach, there was nothing.

Would anyone else like to see these things return? Or am I alone in this desire?

Yeah, dynamic maps were great in previous games. the only maps like that in Reach were Forge maps, though. Hopefully, there will be more dynamic maps in Halo 4, and perhaps more in-depth options in Forge, like buttons, or levers and such.

What you are considering are called interactive maps [simple and easy to remember]. Yes I would like to see more stuff like this returning, as well as some of the Halo 2 map design; which was the basis for some of the best Halo maps known to date.

I would love to see these things implemented!

Yes. I remember a huge long and sophisticated thread on Bungie.net awhile after Reach came out listing some really good reasons for what he called ‘map functions’.

I definitely want them, they change the game in a fair way.

I love maps where you can use the terrain to your advantage. Here’s hoping that this makes a return in halo 4.

If not, then we’ll just have to wait for Halo 2: Remastered.

Yes interactive maps are great, except for Reflection…damn that elevator.

Yes, it made the game more fun and the deaths funnier.

> Yes interactive maps are great, except for Reflection…damn that elevator.

Yes, I eventually avoided that elevator because I was afraid of somehow committing suicide.

I couldn’t really care less about this interactivity. I prefer competitive play, and even in H2, none of those interactive things were included in truly competitive playlists.

They are great for having fun and such, but they are so limited in the way they existed in H2. They were just there and you couldn’t do anything about them.

If we are going to get this sort of interactivity back, I’d much rather see it as forge options than as being built into maps. I’d be fine with some interactivity on some maps in MM, but I want to be able to remove and alter them as I please. I don’t want to see some great map get overlooked for competitive play because they have something dumb like an uncontrollable train on them.

Those were pretty fun, yeah. Added a bit of identity to the maps.

The elevator scared you into thinking you’d commit suicide?

I was REALLY disappointed when Breakneck didn’t have the I-beam and bridge section movable. You would think a half-ton super-soldier would tip the beam a bit, but nooooooo…

I had it happen to me twice in a row in one game. It was within a two minute span. I couldn’t believe it happen. I seemed to be unlucky on it.

That damn elevator had a glitch. I’v died so many times on that cursed thing!!

^^^Lolololol, I have never experienced elevator glitches or committed suicide because of the elevator. Maybe you have bad luck x), sorry to hear that.

How was that interactive? What could the player do to affect it?

H3 Citadel was originally going to have elevators. Now it’s a disaster, just bland. :frowning:

One thing H3 maps had in common with H2 maps was inactive AI. H2 had Penitent Tangent, H3 had Sentinels and Flood infection forms.

But more importantly, CE and H2 maps had simplicity. There weren’t any extra noise. It was simple and clean.

All that stuff is too random, takes away from the skill of Halo. Remove them all, add in only skill.

No AAs! BR only! Final Destination!

The warhouse map seems like that…
