Something I really want, soundtrack-wise

While I really liked the soundtrack of Halo 4, it wasn’t up to Marty’s standards. I want Neil, or whoever is doing the soundtrack to bring back songs from the other Halo games, that includes the monks. I know this has been talked about quite a bit, but I think this would be very cool and nice. I also do want them to evolve the music as well, but they should pay homage and respect to the earlier games.

I second. Bring back some of the old themes. Music is very, very important in movie or game series. Makes us feel at home. Also, the Monks should return.

IMO

The Music in Halo 4 Was great! Yes, It was not Marty but it was good.

I think 343 has a lot of respect for Bungie and Marty. But because of it they should NOT re use Marty’s Music. This is 343’s Halo now. With it’s own Music, Themes, Songs, Remixes.

And yes when you see a Halo like in Halo 4. It’s cool to play the Monk theme. Which Halo 4 did.

I believe that this soundtrack can grow and become one of the best soundtracks. Just give Neil. and 343’s House composers more access in the making of the Story. It’s the advantage that Marty and Mike had.

I LOVE Marty’s Soundtracks. Just check My sig. I HAVE to research them. But then Halo Wars comes along. And it was really refreshing with some Theme’s from Marty re-used.

Then Mart does ODST COMPLETLY different then his other work

A Team Re-used the music in Halo legends and it sounds amazing!

Then Mart does Reach COMPLETLY different then his other work.

New music. New styles. New Ideas are good.

YES you have to keep the Halo feel. And yes I sometimes miss it in Halo 4.

But it would be weird if you would expect Marty’s Level of Music from the get go in a New trilogy by a new studio.

I say just let their music team, Let Neil keep EVOLVING the Halo score Like Marty did. Not Reinvent it.

And yes with Evolving Like Halo CE to 2 to 3 to Reach to Halo 4. Things get thrown away. Sometimes for good sometimes for Bad, And you learn from it.

All I hope that 343 has learned is that they need a more present THEME.

I’d like to see him bring back old themes as well. It’s not that Neil was bad, he’s actually a great composer. That said, Marty is just hard act to follow.

While I do agree with you that 343i needs to push its own music for the new trilogy, I also believe that taking a small selection of music from the original trilogy would help keep the Halo feel. If we even had just 25% of the music be remixes of the Halo 1-3 soundtrack, then I’d be happy.

It felt amazing to hear Never Forget play in the credits of Halo 4, and to hear the Halo theme when we saw Installation 03. However, it felt equally amazing to hear 117 play during the Broadsword run and Arrival to play when you’re trying to get to the Didact. If we could get a bit more of the former, all while keeping the latter, I’d be a very happy guy!

I agree with the previous posts. The new music just didn’t capture the feel of Halo to me. There were a couple of songs on the soundtrack that were good especially Revival, I thought this was the one track that felt like halo and captured the feel of the moment. But all in all I was disappointed with none of the Halo themes making it into the new music. The new music didn’t need to explicitly mimic it but I think there should have been more obvious ties to the original soundtrack. Especially during the scenes with the Chief.

I felt that for the most part this soundtrack could have been part of any sci-fi movie or game.

I want Kazuma Jinnouchi to take over as Halo 5’s lead composer. While I did enjoy Neil’s work with Halo 4, I felt that Kazuma’s music was much, much better and it seemed to capture that “Halo essence” better then Neil did.

Kazuma Jinnouchi. Halo 5.

Love to see Breaking Benjamin also return, but they are in Hiatus. And may never be seen again.

Halo 2 “Blow Me Away”. This was the bit where you entered a large room and a firefight between elites and brutes was going on. And Cortana says something like, I think you should out of this and let them fight it out.

The Breaking Benjamin soundtrack “Blow me Away” was perfect and made this scene even more epic.

Words cannot describe how much the rock ruined 2 for me

To put is simply Halo 4 had too many themes going on.

117, Arrival, To Galaxy, Lasky’s Theme, Mantis and Sacrifice are all truly awesome tracks, capable of being the main theme of their own game/movie, with other tracks pulling from them.

And that’s the problem.
They are like several alpha males in a pack of wolfs, all trying to be top dog.
Marty got it right, because the Main Theme came first, with most of the other track building off of it. Halo 4 had a couple of moments when you recognised parts from other tracks, but it didn’t happen enough. Wreckage sounded like Atonement, and Sacrifice sounded like 117, but that’s it.

I don’t care if Halo 5 doesn’t have more Original Trilogy music in it, as long as they pick a Main theme from Halo 4 and build off it.
