Under magnification I noticed something in the 4th screenshot. This is a ship report on the monitor Master Chief is facing. The third line reads, “Last Contact with UNSC 5 years 4 months 30 days.” Is this date significant? Maybe 343 is planning something on 4-30-12? The other lines are about ship staus, and location unknown.

Weird but what about the 7th and 9th screen shots? If you zoom in on the shield and the left side of the screen, there are some little extra things, what do you think they could be?

Actually Gameinformer says that it has been 4 years, 7 months, and 10 days since the Forward Unto Dawn was split in two. It’s on the third page in the Halo 4 section.
That means that it can’t be 5 years.

I was rounding up.

Keep in mind that it’s concept art for the environment, so they won’t really make much effort to keep up with the new vehicle designs (which may or may not have been completed by then). Just take a look at the Chief in that same picture, he’s drawn using the old design as well, and we know he looks different.
In short, don’t rely on environment art to see the design of a vehicle.

Halo 3 properly ends (not counting the Legendary Ending) on December 11th, 2552, which would put the beginning of Halo 4 around July 20th, 2557 or so.
Thankyou, just noticed the screen shot then googled the last contact date to see if anyone else noticed it. I thought it said 3 years, either way with what? If the Chief has been in cryo for almost 5 years that means something else must have happened.
Edit: didn’t realize it was with unsc, the ss i had looked at cut that out.

343i said that there would be an explanation for the armor change, maybe MC found some MJOLINIR parts in the Forward Unto Dawn
