Something I noticed in Longbow, time of day?

Hey guys, I was just looking at the recently added Longbow screenshots, and something seemed really strange about them, though I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then, it hit me!

If you take a look at the first pictures released of the map (First one, Second one), you’ll notice that the sky shows a starry view, like a nighttime sky. However, by looking at the three new pictures (One, Two, Three), you’ll see that the sky is a nice daytime blue. What’s up with this? Did they change the sky in a newer build of the map? Or does the map have a sky that changes its looks during the course of the game? Perhaps a Forge Effect allows you to switch between the two?

It may be nothing, but it also may be something. And I’m sorry if this was posted before, but I thought you all might like to see it.

Look to the right, there are still stars

Son of a -Yoink-. You have an AWESOME eye. Very nice find. (:

I noticed that too, I wasn’t sure if it were night and day or just a freaky skybox that had starry parts. Like have blue and cloudy and Half starry? But it could be either. Obviously the sky changing would make more sense.

> Look to the right, there are still stars

Yeah, I noticed that, but not nearly as many as the first screenshots, which could imply a changing sky.

Thank you!

Wow… I did not notice this at all. Maybe they just changed the skybox for the most recent build? I kinda like the cloud look better, its much brighter.

However, the “starry” images are both completely different parts of the sandbox compared to the “day” images. It’s hard to compare them. /:

It’s on a different planet, I forget what planet, but it might be the planet we see in the main menu being destroyed. The map looks beautiful, lighting and it looks well designed.

Perhaps the Forerunners/UNSC came across a planet where the atmosphere does not spread out light via the blue wavelength…

I’ve noticed this, but dismissed it. I saw that one half way blue skies and cloudy, while the other is starry.

well, 343 doesnt quite understand how a “Sky” works.

one that is habitable by humans would not show stars if it was day time, at least not like that.

its purely cosmetic even though its day time, but from a scientific perspective it doesnt make any sense.

Actually, this one and this one are looking at the same building, therefore the same area of the sky, more or less. You can easily tell that they are quite different.

two different views, that may be the split in sky

You eagle eyed, son of a yoink! Good look OP I never noticed this.

Ahh, very good comparison. I smell forge skybox variations.

In the last picture. Is that Requiem?

Yes.

it’s concord.

Nice eye! I did not noticed until you pointed it out

Sorry to burst some bubbles

pay close attention to this shadow, then look at all the pictures that show that side of the building

the shadow does not move. Therefore the light source cant be moving.
