Why is it that everyone says that “matchmaking working for all [their] friends” or “matchmaking is working for none of [their] friends?” For some reason, these seem quite inconsistent–I doubt that the sets of people for whom matchmaking works and for whom it doesn’t are disconnected.

I am very confused by this as well. There is no way a patch can “fix” the game for some,and break it for others, that would mean that they are experiencing different bugs that others which would not be possible unless there multiple versions of MCC. Either some are exaggerating the extent of their bugs, or the people that had the game fixed is not being 100% truthful. I won’t say its “fixed” but I will say I have seen “improvements”, I think if people would calm down and actually look at the game instead of expecting to jump into the matchmaking flawlessly until the kinks are worked out then maybe they would see the patches did work to a extent.
For me on the solo it has improved but btb is still a long search time and a lot of hard resets before the game will load. Playing with a friend in a party is hit or miss and really not improved much.
I would just say that MM for me is not consistent, it works and then it doesn’t.
