Something I don't get about the Canon MP...

I think it’s a cool idea to make mp canon but there’s something I’m not getting…

In this article it says all the multiplayer, “will take place on the combat deck of the UNSC Infinity.”

And on this video about Adrift, around the 2:20 mark he talks about being in low orbit around some planet.

So I don’t really understand what’s happening. Are these places being recreated with some type of crazy technology on board the ship or is Infinity driving around and dropping off spartans in battle zones or what?

Not a big deal just curious. Thanks.

Option Number 1.

To be honest I have the same questions . . .

At first I thought the Spartans just entered a holographic portrayal of some area somewhere in the universe and the Spartans played around with training round or something, but that wouldn’t make sense for weapons like the rocket, Spartan Laser or the Promethean weapons which disintegrate people. That also left me thinking, how would vehicles work? How would people be flying in the air on a hologram?

There is only one theory that makes sense to me . . . and that’s that the Spartan IV’s step into some chamber of sorts, and the holographic image and game is played through their thoughts and etc . . . but how would that physically prepare them for Spartan Ops? Maybe mentally, but physically that wouldn’t do anything for them. The canon behind it is unknown to me, although I would be interested to know how it works.

what ship is adrift ?

What’s so hard to understand?

It’s like the Matrix in the Matrix movies.

Everything is virtual, the Spartans connect into the program with their minds and learn to fight like that.
The environments are created with programming and are perhaps ‘inspired’ by past events or certain locations.

The combat deck on the Infinity is one massive simulation, they simulate known environments by the UNSC for Spartans to fight in.

The UNSC has been to the area & planet which Adrift is set at, and they now use it as a simulation location on the Infinity.

Two words: virtual reality.
It’s a game within a game. Halo-ception!

That isn’t hard to understand if that is, in fact, what they are doing - that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I haven’t heard or seen anything official and since the search function on this site basically doesn’t work I thought I’d ask if somebody did know for sure. It sounds like you’re just guessing as well.

so does forge take place on this simulator as well ?

Each map is a REAL place in the universe. However, it is recreated on the UNSC infinity. Like the holodeck from X-men.

> so does forge take place on this simulator as well ?

If I was to do all this canon stuff, I’d assume that the empty forge environments were known by the UNSC, and all the objects we can place on them were known too, so they can customise the simulations.

Well I edited my post so it may seem easier to understand now.

The multiplayer trailer says it’s simulated. Watch it, he says it at about 00:39.

This.

If you’re wondering about how the environments are solid yet holograpic, the Infinity likely has some system inside to configure the environment , while the facade of the map (what the player sees) is holographically generated. Vehicles are still vehicles, but as for the Promethean weapons, the disintegration is just an effect of the simulation.

Forgive me for nerding out here:

  • Holodeck is from Star Trek
  • The Xmen have “The Danger Room”

Still, this is the correct concept.

To clarify, in Campaign, if a Spartan IV is shot by a Scattershot, their body will still disintegrate.

Thanks, man. It isn’t that I didn’t understand what you were saying I just wasn’t sure if that’s the method they were using. Basically since it’s obvious they aren’t “dropping off spartans” it’s either Matrix style or X-Men it seems like.

oops delete this comment :stuck_out_tongue:

That was implied, since the campaign isn’t simulated…

Or is it?

Or Star Trek’s Holo-deck.
