As everyone here knows, the sprint mechanic has caused a rift in the community, and is the subject of many a fierce debate. And I think both sides are at fault. Pro-sprinters keep repeating tired old arguments and say that anti-sprinters just can’t accept change. Anti-sprinters sometimes do blindly hate on sprint, but a bigger problem among their ranks is that they generally end up being jerks… Although to be fair, I’ve seen some very nasty remarks come from pro-sprinters.
Anyways, since Forge is coming soon and it’s supposed to be super big and revolutionary, I’d like to introduce a concept that may or may not be original, and that I’d like to see in Forge. Sprint zones.
Take a map like Guillotine. Inside the buildings, you have “No sprint zones” where players are not able to sprint, thus helping to keep some of the fantastic CQC action from previous Halo games. Then, in the wide open areas, you have “sprint zones” where players are allowed to traverse the map using sprint… at a cost. They would of course not be able to immediately respond to incoming fire due to having to stop sprinting and aim. But, it would be beneficial for those players who like sprint, or who dislike using vehicles (such as myself.)
However, I don’t think that this concept would work with small maps or even some medium-sized maps. It’s really just a suggestion for BTB.
