Something Feels off..(No Spoilers - Mission 1,2,3)

First and foremost, if this post is breaching any forum rules feel free to report this thread and get it locked by moderators. I have no intention of being a party pooper and breaking forum rules. Secondly, don’t be a -Yoink- and ruin everyone’s fun by posting spoilers of any kind. Finally, if you haven’t played or watched the first 3 missions uploaded or streamed online then you won’t have much to add to the conversation.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get to the crux of this post. Something feels…off…about the way the narrative flows within the first 3 missions of the campaign. I’m not sure what specifically. Perhaps that the transitions between cutscene’s, i.e mission 1 end cutscene-mission 2 end cutscene-mission 3 beginning cutscene feel forced and disjointed, as if there are pieces of narrative missing that tie each scene together. Maybe that the content present in the end of the mission 1 cutscene felt like it contradicted with the lore established in The Forerunner Saga and events in Halo 4. I don’t know, is it just me or does something really feel off with how the narrative flows in the first 3 missions.

Probably because they weren’t really ever going to reveal too much story., as not to spoil it for everyone.

That would make sense, if it wasn’t for the fact that what’s been uploaded online hasn’t been cut in any way other than cutting off footage of the 3rd mission before it’s ended.

It’s likely they got a new story director, therefore it has an entirely different feel.

May I ask you what particular YouTuber and video(s) have you been watching that led you to this conclusion?

I watched ReadyUpLive and his uploads showcased all of the cutscenes from 1,2,and 3 and each cutscene had relativity with each mission in my perspective.

I watched ReadyUpLive as well. It’s not that they weren’t related to each other, but that It felt as if there were a bridge missing between them that made then adequately flow between one another. For example

Non Specific Spoiler:

It suddenly wen’t from one character going on a tirade about how she knew what was coming to them discussing how John isn’t equipped another character as a threat, without even explaining wtf is going on other than 1 line about the domain (changing it from a repository of knowledge and memory into what the absolute record is actually supposed to be concerned with not the domain, Technology). I suppose it’s that they don’t know what’s going on either, or it’s a really annoying mystery plotline where the information is readily available but its just refused to the player until later in the campaign.

Non Specific Spoiler:

I was under the impression that the Domain was a precursor entity and wasn’t able to be “hacked” by some artificial intelligence, unless that’s a ploy on 343’s part and its actually the domain using that characters form. Otherwise It’d just cheapen the end of Halo 4. (Not that it contradicted with events in halo 4, but rather cheapened them).

Ahh ok if we’re talking about that kind of information then I’m almost 100% certain that its going to require digging through outside media sources like Halo Escalation comics or Hunt the Truth.

My bets on Halo Escalation because there are quite a bit of things that happen there that bridge the gap from Halo 4 to Halo 5.
