In matchmaking, it seems that randomly, or when someone quits, the screen goes black and the playerlist comes up. It says its changing host. It lasts from 10 secs to around a minute. When its gone, im not only frustrated, but 3 things could’ve happened.
Everyone seems to have been affected and things go back to normal, except for a person that may have quit.
I find myself dead as if I was the only one affected, and everyone around me is fighting.
It makes everyone “quit” and its game over.
I really hate this, especially when it happens at the start of a match. Does anyone know why this happens?

If the person whose XBox was serving as host quits everyone goes to black screen while the server tries to determine which XBox of those left has the best connection and should be assigned host.
You or maybe you and a few others are lagging out and others aren’t. You see black screen and others see you as being AFC. SO, yeah, you got killed.
The worst part is it makes all weapons (including power weapons) re-spawn.
It’s happening more than ever now. When our group has group game nights we joke about “black screen sprees”, “black screen tacular”, or being onyx in black screens or platinum in onyx screens.
I don’t think 343i has a “ban hammer” in place like Bungie had, and I think the number of people willing to risk network manipulation to 1. kill the other team while they stare at black screen and 2. make power weapons respawn is increasing day by day.
ugh… its really annoying. I guess it could be my connection, or the host thing. The only good thing, is that if my team has the highest score, and everyone quits, it acts as if I won. Technically, free wins.

If “everyone quits” (really you getting lagged out) then the x-box console “thinks” you won, but x-box live “knows” the game is going on without you. You will be awarded a win if your team still in the game wins, but if the other team manages to come back due to you getting lagged out then you win be awarded a loss.
