Someone with Halo CEA, install Reach and...

Someone with Halo CEA install Reach and tell me if you can play the Reach multiplayer maps from the Halo CEA disc.

I’ve been hearing lots of contradicting statements regarding this. I’d like to know for certain.

Installed Reach on HDD + haz CEA = play CEA maps on Reach in customs.

Installed CEA on HDD + installed Reach on HDD = play Reach maps on CEA.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Installing the Reach disc will not give you access to the default maps from the CEA disc. That’s not how installing a disc works. All the feature does it allow data to load faster because it’s been cached. Hell, go install a game on the HDD and try playing it without the disc in the tray. It won’t work.

Now, CEA does come with a code to download the “Anniversary Map Pack”. Downloading this will allow you to access all the maps from the Reach disc.

I believe it has actually been confirmed that you CAN download Reach and play the maps with CEA in.

Also, installing a game to your HDD is just like buying the game via games on demand- with the exception that your xbox requires a disc to access the data. This way, players can’t rent a game and play it forever.

It was said at some point at Halo Fest that having Reach installed to the HDD would allow access to the entire Reach MP from the CEA disc. This thread is asking for confirmation of that.

Pretty much.

Unless things change after the official release date, its currently working like this…granted, I’m basing this on owning the game (which I do) but being unable to play it in matchmaking yet (which sucks).

If you put in the Reach disc AND have entered the code to download the maps for Reach (which comes in the game package) you can access all Reach maps, all downloaded Reach map packs, and the new maps from within Reach.

If you put in the Anniversary disc, you can access the new maps only.

So if you install Reach then you can’t access the Reach maps from the CEA menu?

Eh. Wonder why they said that at Halo Fest… Disappointing.

That’s the way it is now. Again though, I can’t play online yet…things aren’t in order yet regarding that. I suppose on Tuesday I’ll be able to do matchmaking. Maybe things will change? I’m basing what I say on what I can see from the custom game menus on each disc. Reach shows everything…Reach maps and CEA maps and DLC maps. CEA only shows CEA maps.

I have CEA installed, Reach installed, all Reach DLC, and entered the code to download the CEA maps for Reach.

I don’t see why it matters, really. If you want to play a mix of Reach and CEA maps you can do so by putting in the code (which is free and included in the game’s package) and then putting in the Reach disc. Seems like it will be the easy choice once the playlists go live.

Cheers mate.

Because ce’s campaign > reach’s campaign.

umm… disc change ftw??

He asked why it would matter, It because some people like not having to constantly have to switch disks.

This.

I can see myself playing a lot of Halo CEA’s campaign. Sometimes I’ll like to mix it up a bit by playing multiplayer, so changing discs is a bit tedious to do. It would’ve been easier if all the Reach maps were available in the Halo CEA menu.

I installed both games, both games don’t load each others maps.

But we’re not talking about campaign, we’re talking about multiplayer maps.

This is only true if you didn’t activate the code to put the CEA maps in Reach. Its a free code included in the package.

But realistically it shouldn’t really matter. Sure its fun to mix things up but are you really going to be swapping back and forth between campaign and multi so fast that disc-swapping is an issue? I would think that you’d play campaign through a level or at least a good number of checkpoints before wanting to switch, and would want to play at least a few matches of multi at a time. I don’t think most gamers are going to be popping up and swapping discs every few minutes.
