Someone peed in the sandbox....and it smells

I mean, these weapons suuuck. Like I don’t enjoy using hardly any of them. None of them make me smile like the shotgun did, or shooting around a corner with the halo 5 hydra or the incineration cannon…it’s a stupid weapon, but God it makes me smile when I watch my friends’ spartan burn.

And I’m talking to you here now. Not the halo hoarde or screaming into the void. Just you, the person reading this right now on your phone, or as you’re sitting down at your computer.

9 months we’ve had the enjoyment of this sandbox. So tell me.

Tell me you’re enjoying the skewer.
Tell me you’re enjoying the shock weapons.
I mean, the rifle is great right, cause mint blitz get nothing but one shots with it.
Tell me youre enjoying the pulse carbine or the commando.
The bulldog, or the plasma pistol, you’re enjoying them right?
I mean enjoying them like you enjoyed the shotgun or the magnum.

Love the inconsistency of the rockets?
How about the equipment? That drop wall, you never always just walk by that one right?

Tell me you’d prefer those weapons over the weapon sandboxes of the past.

But the BR, that’s what’s buttering your bread right now ain’t it? I mean. It got it locked down YO!
…until the AR blind sides you and your dead before you can turn.

And to person who reads this and it triggers “I’m a great halo player, been playing since before CE, that’s how OG I am, so Im great with all these weapons” , that’s nice, your place in the hall of fame is cemented.

Nah man, 9 months later, we deserve better then this.

Honestly for me this is the best sandbox we have ever had by far.

Been around for 20 years and always hated the precision utility weapon meta. It was at its worst in Reach but its always been so bland to me. Th AR finally killing the BR at close range is the single best part of Infinite. No longer is the AR absolute trash thats never worth using.

I don’t enjoy the shock rifle or hydra as is they just arent fun to use and too good/easy against vehicles. But i love the disruptor and to my surprise the sidekick. Going into Infinite i thought i would hate it due to it not being the magnum but dang if it isn’t fun to shoot.

I love the hammer and sword in this game more than ever. The hammer actually feels different than the sword and is slow but has a huge area of damage and the sword just plays so good and feels great to use.

How can you not love the equipment? Infinite feels like the sequel to H3 i have been waiting for and the equipment is a huge part of that. From the repuslor to the grapple they all have a use and are pretty fun to use. Active Camo finally got rid of the nerf added in Reach and is dang good now too and overshields are pretty similar to what we have always had so its fine.

I do love the commando, it needs the nerf it got reverted but other than that its fun to use for sure and does provide a pretty big skill gap for users to master. Same with the mangler, revert the nerf and its perfect. The bulldog is just okay but im learning to love it and the heatwave is just awesome. I hated it at first but once you get used to it it is a monster.

The pulse carbine is bad and needs a buff but the plasma pistol is fine and works well in ranked.

They just put out a patch for the SPNKR so its blast radius is bigger and how can you not love using the skewer?! That thing is so cool if not a bit too easy to use on vehicles. The cindershot is another gun i thought I would hate but ended up liking once i got used to it.

The sniper is about the same as its always been and the stalker rifle is awesome if you get good with it. The needler is pretty much the same as its always been so its fine.

Dynamo grenades are the weapon i do have a big issue with as they are just way too easy to use against vehicles and i think they should be nerfed into having to make direct contact with a vehicle to disable it. Frags are a bit too strong but thats better than too weak and plasmas are fine as is.

The sentinel beam is just amazing, its definitely the best version we have ever had. Crazy damage but high recoil make it super fun to use.

I think that just about covers everything, so yeah i don’t think anyone peed in the sandbox, i think we finally got some pee out (the BR being able to kill basically everything faster at closer range is finally gone) and you just don’t like the smell of clean sand.

Cool, do I get my own metal head bust and everything?

I’m not going to sit here and say the weapon sandbox is perfect, but I’m also not in the camp that it needs a huge overhaul.

It’s interesting to see how it behaves in different corners of the game. I would say the sandbox extremely shallow in ranked. 95% of ranked is BR. Several guns (hammer, cindershot) aren’t even in the game. Without vehicles, disruptor is genuinely useless. Shock rifle is pretty finicky and most people ignore it. The skewer’s only on Catalyst and it’s mostly an afterthought. Commando may as well not exist, and sidekick only exists in Aquarius (right?) and pretty much nobody picks it up in my lobbies. Why would you when you have a BR? Carbine never gets any use outside of I guess maybe like top 1% players fire off a burst before switching to BR.

AR and Mangler are well-balanced and have good roles. Plasma Pistol’s a little unforgiving on tracking but definitely still plays an important role.

In H5 at least we could consistently jump between magnum, BR, DMR, LR, carbine. All usable precision guns with fun differences. That game had a near-perfect sandbox with loads of diverse guns that are good in different situations and ranges. In HI it’s the BR and… the BR.

I agree, comparing Halo 5 immense weapon array to Infinite, there is not enough simple sandbox weapons that are not made for being competitive.
